So I got the new dizzy in yesterday, and everything seemed to be going fine until earlier tonight after driving the car for most of the day. I went to start it after turning it off 5-10 minutes prior, and the RPMs went from 1200 down to around 400, back to 800, then it'd stall. If I keep the revs up for awhile and rev it a couple times, it'll normally smooth out, but then as soon as I turn the car off and turn it on a short time later, it'll stall again. It's not the dizzy or the ignition coil, so any other suggestions?

Just because you got a new distributor does not mean the one you replaced it with is good.

If you can get your hands on a friends car that you can swap parts from it is worth a try. Good luck.

Well the one I replaced it with was brand new, so that'd help a little bit. On top of that, it actually solved a misfire at idle I've had since I bought the car, which is great and all, but I'd rather have the stalling issue solved. A local shop owner's thinking it may be a sensor problem - does that help at all? I'm happy to give any information regarding the car if it'll help me sort out this problem. If anything, any suggestions on what the problem COULD be (different parts that could've failed, sensors that could've gone bad). I'm just looking to get as much information as I can to isolate and fix the problem.

Sensors that could affect idle are:

MAF - TPS - IAC

MAF may need cleaning especially of you have a K&N filter

TPS may be out of range or you have played with the set screw and have it set incorrectly

IAC may not be working or sticking and thus not controlling air flow properly at idle.

There are other sensors but I would focus on these first.

Thanks, I BELIEVE the IAC's working fine. I cleaned it off about 2-3 weeks ago, and I can feel it working if I put my fingers to it while the cars running. Also, the IAC sometimes saves it from a stall (atleast I think it's the IAC), where the revs will drop and then it'll kick back up. The TPS I definitely think could be a culprit, I've never messed with it - I'll check that this week. The MAF I've cleaned a couple times, but it won't hurt me to do it again. Thanks a lot for the suggestions.
