I took it by a transmission shop, hes 99% sure its a flexplate/TC noise. Its definitely more noticeable in reverse. Looking up videos on youtube for flexplate noises, it sounds just like it. Sound/noise coming right from the bell housing.

Its a brand new upgraded flexplate and torque converter. but possibly it cracked or something wrong with the bolts/mounting somewhere. Ill see if I can get it inspected sometime this week.

New engine
New "upgraded" flexplate (https://www.americanmuscle.com/sr-flexplate-6bolt.html)
New Torque Converter. The one I had in it was fine mechanically, but one of the threads for the TC bolts were messed up on removal of the engine. Looks like the last shop i had install the TC had a hard time with one bolt and forced it in. So that TC was not usable at the time.
New Torque Converter bolts. I triple checked which bolts to get with the torque converter company owner. Sent him a picture of them and he verified all good for clearance and grade.

Why would this happen? Only 1,000 miles into the new install.

So I go the inspection plate, off, propped the phone up and started the car. Working on trying to get that video edited/uploaded. Took it in slow-mo mode.

Heres a picture from the inspection camera. Not sure what that straight line is, if its a crack, cause its all one piece.. Im fairly sure its a crack. but Ill have to get my finger on there tomorrow (and the camera).

Picture of Line or maybe crack on flexplate:

That line was nothing. Im 90% sure its my starter staying slightly engaged and hitting the flexplate teeth.

1k miles on the engine and its toast

Some people have advised me they believe the crank shaft thrust bearing has failed. I dont know what to do.

Reading a bunch about thrust bearing failures. just seems like Im SOL? bring it back to the engine builders and hope for the best?
