Hey all, I have the new engine combo in and am experiencing vibration during slow rpm movement and acceleration. It is a “soft vibration” that you can feel through the car, and I can definitely feel it through the steering wheel. No odd noises though.
It seems to settle down some at higher speeds (45-55 mph). The vibration is most violent during low/medium acceleration at lower speeds (25-35 mph) and rpms (1000-2500 rpms).
When at idle or revving in neutral there is little vibration… no more than can be expected with a cammed motor.
History: I pulled my old stock bottom end motor and threw in a slightly used forged 306. It was running fine before I got it. It was balanced with the 50 oz. balancer it came with, but I threw my 50 oz. balancer on it. I installed new polyurethane motor mounts. When removing the pilot bearing from the new block it did scar the crank area some.
I have checked tranny fluid, and it is correct…. So I don’t think it’s tranny shudder. I installed it up to the same AODE tranny, driveshaft… nothing else has changed.
Where do I begin to figure this vibration out??
