Some people might remember but for those of you who do not there was a guy that posted on here a few months back about a new muffler his company was producing and was wanting people to try them out and he would send them a free pair. Well I decided to take him up on this offer just to give them a try. Well the UPS man set them at the door today and I thought that I would make a post about my initial thoughts about them. They are Pypes Performance V-Tube and from what I gather it is a new design that they have come up with and judging from the sound on a pontiac on their website they are going to sound awesome. Anyway, I just opened one up and I must say that quality is A+ on these mufflers. They are a aluminized muffler with the same basic look as my dynomax ultra-flow welded mufflers. The overall gauge of the aluminum seems to be thicker than my dynomax and the welds are perfect and right on par with those of the dynomax as well. Where these mufflers really seem to have it over the other brands is they offer a lifetime warranty on them. As far as I know the only other brands that offer this kind of a warranty only do so on the more exensive stainless mufflers. I will post some pics of the mufflers later on and also try and post some sound/video clips if I can figure out how to do them on my camera and also find someone to host them.

2l8, thanks for the plug. I think that muffler is a perfect fit for the owner of a stock Mustang that likes the Flowmaster sound but with less resonance. I noticed you mentioned UltraFlows. It flows well about 40 cfm higher than FM40 but I just want to make sure that you use them in the proper situation. It doesn't compete with the UltraFlows for flow. UltraFlows definitely flow better. However, in Dyno tests that we ran on a fairly stock Mustang (220hp) The V gave us an extra 4-5 hp over the UltraFlow. Later we tested a higher hp car with about 315 rwhp and there the UltraFlow gave us 10 extra hp. This supports other tests we have done. The higher hp cars can really use the extra breathing. For those of you with stock applications, it gives you a little more flexibility to go with a performance muffler for its sound.

Don't forget to e-mail me the sound file when you get to it.

We have quite a few sound videos but our web site is down this weekend. We didn't pay our bill. :nonono:

I was on the site earlier today listening to the sounds that you have. I will tell you that I plan on ordering up the off road X-pipe for my car soon to add to those mufflers. Just so everyone knows they have them cheaper than any other company out there and if the quality is like the mufflers then it's well worth the price. I will have the mufflers on sometime tomorrow afternoon and hope to get video of it running no later than Tuesday. Where would you like me to e-mail the video to? I seem to have lost your e-mail address.

I just finished installing the mufflers on my car and I have to say that I am completely impressed with them. They sound bad as hell with a real raspy note like a flowmaster but there is almost no drone or sound inside the car at all. They are kind of quiet at idle but they absolutely scream when you get into the throttle. I just barely got finished welding them up before the rain started to fall so I am going to have to wait until tomorrow or at least until the rains stops to get a video/sound clip of it.
