i think we need to take a vote around here and have some rule modifications. I just saw a thread closed because of someone talked about a street race. C'mon really, there is no reason that thread needed to be deleted. Stangnet needs to have a revamp in the mod department and rule department. This is rediculous. Whats the big deal about someone mentioning that they raced a car stoplight to stoplight. How is that hurting this website? I dont see how or why there needs to be a thread closing and a rule about no threads about street racing. It has nothing to do with the people of the board. Stangnet has the best group of people and 5.0 talk section by far. But with these rediculous rules and power trip mods, its gettin ruined. Anybody else agree:shrug:

I dont, street racing is illegal and that is prolly why stangnet mods don't want people posting about it. You can street race all you want, stangnet mods just don't want to here, or read about it because it is illegal.:notnice:

The rules will remain as written, and most of us will disagree with your entire post, so I'll explain why:

The StangNet Terms of Service are written the way they are for a reason. The no street racing threads policy is in place because, as a family site, we are dedicated to a friendly, welcoming environment. If you want to talk about your street racing adventures, have at it, but I assure you the threads will be locked or deleted and infractions may be issued at the moderator's discretion. Street racing is illegal, and often causes severe injury or death to innocent bystanders.

We want no part of either promoting street racing, or justifying someone's illegal activity. Your example of a harmless stoplight-to-stoplight blast is more often than not the same scenario that plays out in Anytown, USA where someone's mother, father, sister, brother, cousin, uncle, etc. are severely injured, disabled, or killed when someone loses control and runs them over, broadsides their car, runs off the road into a group of pedestrians waiting to use the crosswalk, and so on. We simply do not condone illegal activity and aren't sympathetic to those who partake in illegal street racing activities. That has something to do with every member who themselves, or their loved ones could become a victim of the senselessness of street racing. That is why the rule exists, will remain in place, and why we will not budge from our position regarding it.

On your issue regarding "power trip mods," you can always PM any of the moderators or administrators of the site if you feel you're being mistreated by a member or staff member on this site. The option also exists at the bottom of the page to Contact Us to send an email message to the SN Administrators. We also have a Feedback Area | Testing Zone where you can make suggestions on what you feel would make StangNet a better place for all of us. Not all suggestions are viable, however anything which is reasonable may be considered. The SN Staff has its own forum where we discuss site related issues, so if you have any suggestions, please post them in the appropriate forum for us to view and consider.

I hope this clears things up, and I don't appear to be too much of a "power trip mod" for you! :p

If you have a problem than take it up in a pm. This is one of the worst ways to go about something. As stated above if you noobs would read the TOS you would know what can be posted and what can't.
Thanks

I've got a better idea. I'm going to show you the door. You're welcome to return with a different screen name so long as you learn to show some manners.

The next time you decide to join and become part of forum, try and remember the following:

1. READ the terms of service
2. FOLLOW the terms of service. It doesn't matter if you agree with them or not.
3. Don't assume that some some Noob is going to pop into a forum and have a "vote" to try and shape the forum that you joined to fit what YOU think it should be.
4. If the above three suggestions do not agree with you then you are free to pass right by and go to another forum.

The staff here at Stangnet spend a countless number of hours of their time making Stangnet what it is. This isn't some free-for-all with a lack of manners that you might be used to on some teenie bopper, my space chat room.

13 whole posts and you want to come in here and insult the TOS and the staff that make this place run? I don't think so. Lemme show you the door. That should solve your problem.

man I'm a newbie myself, but I don't think I'd be calling out mod's like that just yet or at all in the forums. you got some coins though I'll give you that.

Here is a man with some common sense and respect for the forum that he chose to be a part of.

As for the original poster having coins? Nah... just a big mouth.

For the record, i didn't even see the sticky about revising the rules, otherwise i would've known better. Maybe we can figure out a way to draw more attention to the more important things like that?

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=667861

That one? I'm assuming that's the one that told us about updated terms. Otherwise if it's an old rule then it's been abused for the last 4 years that i've been a member.

Since we're on this subject, does this include ridding the forums of the flood of "rice" threads we get all the time? Also i can totally understand family oriented, but we do have the Banana Hammock Republic which at times is anything but family oriented, and now we have a few sub-forums there for further segregating the offensive threads....maybe we can get a street stories forum in there? It's not like Stang.Net is supporting street racing any more than they support the religious debates and fights about PS3 vs. 360 threads.

Personally having a place to post about playing around on the street isn't a big deal since it's a pretty rare thing for me anyways, but maybe others wouldn't mind it and if it's put in a proper place then...? If that's questioning the staff then i'm sorry but someone had to ask right?

Ok... here's the thing about street racing:

The staff here at Stangnet will NOT be part of glorifying that particular activity. End of story, no discussion to be had about it.

There are TOO many instances of either the vehicle occupants or innocent by-standers being hurt or killed while street racing. Stangnet will NOT have any part in celebrating, encouraging, condoning, or appluading such reckless behavior.

IMO, it would be the same as me recommending that someone toss a 300 shot of nitrous onto a stock block with no other modificiations. It's just plain bad advice.

As far as the rice threads go... well... I don't like em any more than you do. Personally, I could give a rat's rear end about someone's recent aquisition of a WRX or just how "cool" of a car they are or could be. I didn't join a WRX forum and couldn't care less about them.

As a staff member, all I can do is close them when they start getting nasty or close them when they're posted in the wrong forum. I'm not going to make any attempt to pick and choose what topics should go into a Talk forum. The talk forums are there so that the Mustang Community can shoot the breeze about whatever. Sometimes that includes conversations about rice burners. Usually, I just pass right by them. :nice:

This isn't teh fast & teh curious forum, or whatever.

Sure, some of from time to time will stop at a light, and someone might pull up and challenge us, and we may accelerate as quickly as possible to the posted speed limit or slightly faster. Doesn't make it cool, legal, ect.

And some may take it even further by an actually all out street race. But, I sure as hell don't want to read about it, and have other's in the community getting the impression we support street racing.

I don't want to hear about some noob getting injured, killed, or putting anyone's lives at risk because he wanted a less than 15 second joyride.

:Track: , in a controlled environment, take video, pictures, and post a thread about that. :nice:

Or else, STFU FTW.

There's another post just 10 down from this one. Something about wasting a Monte Carlo? I see them in here all ofthe time. I don't approve either, too many kids die around here doing stupid stuff as it is.

Yeah welcome aboard you're about 10 posts behind...lol. That was me. Tell me you've never raced someone on the street and i'll tell you you're a liar :nice:

well, he could always try mustangworld.............lol

What's your point there? It's not like i'm out there preaching that Stangnet should support street racing....i don't even consider it racing, it's not like we were lined up on slicks with a crowd of people watching, and by the time i shut down i was going about 70 in a 60mph zone....biiiiiig deal. I'm not even upset about the thread getting closed, it's not a big deal, and i really don't care either way if people are allowed to post about street racing or not because it's not something i make a habit of doing. But, that said i find it extremely EXTREMELY hard to believe that a single person in THIS thread has never done what i did with the Monte...pretty much every car guy who's ever driven a sports car has and probably will again, but that's aside the point.

I missed the part about not posting this type of thing anymore, the thread is closed, i asked Dags about having a sub forum and that's a no go so big deal, let it pass. As i said before, i didn't see the sticky about new rules, and it's not like i make it a habit to re-read the terms of service since i've been here for 4 years now and haven't ever seen anything prior to this about not posting street racing threads.

It was a joke dude, chill.

No it's cool man, like i said it's not really a big deal. Up until this very moment (earlier today when my thread got locked) i had no idea anyone cared since there's thousands of other threads about it all the time. I figured just like i don't like seeing 20 rice threads a day that if someone didn't wanna see street racing threads they could just skip over them like i skip over the rice threads...but whatever. I can definitely understand why they're not allowed, it just kinda caught me off guard that people are kind of flaming me for something i know damn well everyone has done at one time or another. It's kind of hypocritical to me. But alas, now i know the new rule and it won't happen again :nice:
