Would getting new gears cause my transmission to slip, it feels like it is. I recently had my transmission rebuilt too... Or is it the gears? It will hesitate and give me a bump feeling while driving.

:(

I could be wrong but I've never heard of the tranny slipping due to gears but I did have a problem on another car years ago where some rear work I had done messed up the posi and was slipping?

It wouldn't cause your trans to slip, but maybe your new and improved ability to put power to the pavement with the gearswap is causing an already "on it's way out the door" AOD to take that extra step?

You can have it rebuilt a lot cheaper than a Lentech. A standard performance rebuild with a shift kit will still be just fine for a daily driver and cost you about half of the price. You can always upgrade the converter later on. Besides, if the trasmission is in fact going, you may not have a choice but to pop for another one.

My friends AOD just went, had it rebuilt with a shift kit (B&M if it matters)...tis nice. 1st to 2nd gear is realllly tight, besides an exhaust system, everything else is stock and he can get the rear to chirp going into second.

Yeah about those B&M shifters whats the point of it if it automatically shifts for you? is there a difference only if you manually shift it? I want one but I dont see the point in manually shifting because I hear that can also decrease the like of an automatic tranny

He's talking about a B&M "shift kit" not a B&M shifter.

Manually shifting the transmission allows you to hold it in the specified gear longer, without having to worry about up shifting into the next gear like you would just by leaving it in "D". It's a common practice when racing (and on the street for some) but it does shorten the life of your transmission doing the "1-2-1" shuffle. B&M does make a ratchet style shifter for this purpose, but It's built for a C4, not an AOD and I really don't know anyone who's got one in their Mustang.
