New guy here

Well, i may not own a 'stang, but i figured this would be the best place for what i DO have... I'm a die hard Chevy guy (awaiting flames on that one ) but i just bought a '84 Ford ranger with a '80 302 in it, someone's abandoned project..
currently the engine/trans are removed, it had a FMX auto in it, but I'm installing a AOD. the 302 is pretty stock, but I'm gonna put a comp cams 280duration 513 lift cam in it , 4 bbl intake with a Holley 650 DP carb. it has factory 90's mustang GT manifolds on it. i will post pics asap.. let me know what you guys think of my project..

Don't bother with that big a cam unless you know what the compression ratio is. Chances are that's too much duration with the stock compression (about 8 to 1). A better choice with that motor would be a High Energy 268H. The 650 Dp carb is also too big. You'd do better with a 570 street avenger or a list 1850 600 cfm vacuum sec. Holley. Especially with the AOD. You'll also have to rig up a throttle-valve cable to work the AOD. For more on what you have go to www.rangerpowersports.com They have a good V8 Ranger forum there.
