This is my first post on here, and I need some help with my car. I used to be die hard gm, but I just love my 94 cobra .

The problem i'm having is when the car reaches a certain rpm it ''stutters'', but it really only does it 1st, or 2nd gear ? I have changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor button, and fuel filter. I had the timming set, and my fuel pressure is ok. The car has an H pipe with no cats, and an open K&N filter thats dirty as hell.

I'm just clueless about where to start on it, since I dont know alot about fords. Is it somthing with the clutch or , a sensor??? I'm just tired of trying to get on it in low gear and not going anywhere. The car itself has 80k so it's not in that bad of shape.
I just need some advice. Thanks

Hi. Welcome to Stangnet.
To help solve the stuttering problem, I would clean your mass air sensor. This is done by taking out the two screws on top of the sensor, and taking it out of the housing. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE SENSOR, AS IT IS VERY FRAGILE. Clean the contacts with a q-tip and a very small amount of rubbing alcohol. Reassemble and go take it for a drive. While your at it, you might as will clean and re-oil your K&N.

Welcome to the club....if you like modding or your car has a lot of problems or both....you will be posting here a lot. Hopefully it will be for modding questions.

Describe ths studdering as specifically as you can. Everything you physically notice about the problem, let us know about it. A generic question like why is my car stuttering will get a generic answer eg. clean the MAF (although this isnt a bad idea and may help). Is the car mostly stock or not? Let us know about any aftermarket parts that could be related to this problem (basically the motor mods if there are any).

Well the only things that I can see that are done to the car is the H pipe no cats, flowmasters, and the open k&n filter. Everything else is pretty much stock.

The problem that I am having seems only to happen in the lower gears, especially 1st and second. When in 1st,or 2nd the car just acts like it's cold or not getting fuel. It will not even spin the tires over in 1st gear even if I dump the clutch.
I've had the car since april, and it still hasnt changed since I did the tune up. When it's at low rpm's in third gear and I floor it it ''back fires'' , but not from the exhaust. It sound like it is coming from the top of the engine somewhere?
The motor seems to jump around alot when sittig at idle, like it has a small cam or a vaccum leak, but there are so many little hoses under there I wouldnt know where to start.

It typically will jump in rpm's to about 3500 and just not go anywhere. It's really smooth all the way up to 3500, but once I get there it just starts bogging down -stuttering alot of hesitation.

It does sound like your mass ais is acting up try cleaning it. You might as well clean your throttle body out while your there. Use some carb cleaner and an old tooth brush. While you have the carb cleaner out use that to see if you have any vac leaks. While the car is idling spay some carb cleaner around the lower/upper intake and any vac hoses to see if the idle shoots up and down. Good luck
