New Guy rearend and brakes: Help

Okay...the Turbo coupe rear end is 1-1/2" (3/4" each side) longer OVERALL. The 17X9" 03 wheels will be fine especially with the extra room you have now. Those wheels should have +27mm offset, if not +30mm offset.. The bad thing is that site does not specify the offest on the 03 Cobra wheels. I think they have 6.12" of backspacing which will get more meat under the car. Anyways, if you don't do that route try www.ponyr.com. They have 17x9, and 17x10 Pony wheels available in Chrome, Silver, and White. Some have a standard +24 or +27mm offset for regular fox bodies. Others have a 44mm offset for fox bodies with SN95 axles or Turbo Coupe rear ends. This will get the wheels in another 1/2". Your wheels should not stick out of the wells.

I have an 81 coupe with a 2001 axle in it. That axle is 3" (1-1/2" each side) longer OVERALL. My 17X8" wheels sit out at the edge of the quarter. 17X9" with a standard offest will stick out 1/2"....so I am going with Pony R wheels to get the wheels in more. I have a massive 8-3/4" of backspacing available on my car... so fitting any wheel is not a problem.

I have a quick question regarding a 93 cobra rearend I have acquired. Can I use the stock disc brakes from the rearend and just put in 5-lug axles? Or will I have to get new brakes and what not when I put in the new axles?

If you want to you can use the 93 Cobra (or Turbocoupe, as they are the same) brakes with 5 lug 94-98 SN95 axles if you redrill the 4 lug rotors to 5 lugs. Or, jrichker found out that a 5 lug Mazda rotor will fit with the TC or 93 Cobra brakes if you use a small spacer. Hopefully he will chime in on the specifics.

Five lug Turbo Coupe conversion:
Use the 94-95 axles Mustang axles. Use 1990 Mazada MPV 3.0 V6 front rotors (10", 5 lug x 4.5" pattern, 2 7/16" offset ). While you are at the auto parts store, set a TC rear rotor side by side with the Mazada rotor and they are the same except for the offset.

The next step fixes the offset problem:
Use a Maximum MotorSports 1/8 spacer (MMWS6, http://www.maximummotorsports.com/i...roduct_info&manufacturers_id=&products_id=576 ) between the inside of the rotor and the axle flange. The spacers may need to have the OD machined to fit properly. The stock rotor offset is 2 5/16" and the Mazada rotors are 2 7/16" offset. The 1/8" spacer puts the rotor back dead center alignment with the calipers.
