I am dying to modify my car (S197 '05), but I want to know what something is that I can do that is easy.

I am learning pretty much, and I don't want to do something that will **** up my car. I don't have another mustang I can practice on, so this is my only shot.

What is an easy mod that I can do, or should I just leave the car alone

I think I know what the answer will be. :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

what exactly do you want? performance enhacement--put a K&N in the stock airbox. look enhancement--louvers, or sequential taillights (my favorite). interior enhancement--upgrade kit, if you don't have it.

a real easy project to make your car look nice--claybar, wax, and shine. time consuming, but if you take your time, very little skill required and wonderful results

With gas prices the way they are I would stick to appearance mods. All this go fast stuff comes at price times 2. You have a fast car as it is. Personalize it :D

Katie,
I would hang out here and read through some threads of higs you are interested in doing. There is also a technical write up section here on SN where you can read about things like CAI install.

Poke around and I'm sure you'll find something you can (and want) to do

Rican, first off, that isn't what the mods would like to see, and it IS an attack. So, why not be kind and just answer her question?
Katie, you need to assess your skills, and may want to get into some classes to learn more about mechanics in general. There is nothing you cannot accomplish, it is just a mtter of taking the time to learn how to do it. If you want to personalize your ride with dressup items, then that isn't too tuff. Like more power? Now it gets a little tuffer. A cold air intake, and tuner to match, would be easy, and if you don't have that skill level, then find someone that is competant and willing to teach you. Next level? Want a little more rumble? Try new mufflers. Not too hard, and again, you may be able to handle it, or may need some instruction. One way or another, it is great to learn all you can about your car, learn how to take care of it, and feel more of a sense of ownership and accomplishment because you do. When i started messing with cars 42 years ago (yep, i'm old!!) i didn't know much of anything. Now, i build everything, including motor, trans, rear, chassis (except for body work!)and handle all choirs on my 8 second drag car myself. So never let anyone sell you short, just learn and then go kick thier butt at the local track if you like!!

Dont let people like the "Rican" get you discouraged. I would jump in head first and go for the supercharger install :D :nice: After you do that.....anything else you want to do to your car will be a walk in the park :spot:

Do the 05's come with forged internals?

If so slap on a SC, and smoke some fools. But if not, get that done... by a shop... heh.

I still vote for CAI tho.

No forged internals on the stock motors.

Katie,

Like they said, some easy to mange mods may be in order tostart until your comfortable with the work to be done.

Painting the brake calipers - Requires removing the wheels / tires and cleaning the work area for paint prep. Takes a few hours but looks really good. A nice, easy dress up mod to set your car apart from some of the others.

A really nice wax job - Proper prep again. Now this can take all day. Wash, clay bar to remove bugs, contaminants, swirl remover and wax / polish. Takes some elbow grease, but the the car likes it and you will too.

Window tinting - Door windows, rear quarter window and rear window. I would suggest that you have a local shop does this since geting the rear sheets on correctly are a real pain in the a$$. Maybe an hour of your time and about $100.00 is what I paid.

Dress up extras - Both the cockpit and the engine bay can be dressed up quite a bit. An intake cover for the engine (10 minutes and $150.00), chrome or polished accents on the engine, shiney knobs inside the car.

Performance Mods - Definetly the first thing you should do concerning speed / horsepower is a cold air intake and tuner (SCT or Diablo). The install for the intake is only a few minutes and they run from $150.00 to $500.00. The tuners run from $329.00 to $400.00 and the flashing is easy... again only a few minutes. But the difference in the cars performance is incredibloe.

Change out the mufflers - The sound of a muscle car is a sound no person can ignore. $250 - $700.00. Easy enough with the proper tools and work area. 30 minutes to an hour.

So many more things can be done. Take a peek in the firums as mentioned above. Ask for help when needed but let them walk you though the process not just do it for you. You'll learn a lot more that way and the pride factor kicks in when someone asks you what was modded and who did it.

How about mentioning that the computer chip and K&N air filter will void her warranty--The K&N also does not filter dirt particles out very well--I want my Mustang to last.
Tinted windows sounds good.
Other thoughts ?

Don't do the chip or "tune" Best be leaving the timing alone. A blower forget about it ---$3.00 91/93 octane :( Of course if it's a weekend fun car, or you got a bucket of dough then have at it.

Doesn't look like any of these answers matter much now.
Looks like Katie was banned.

Check the Wild Horse Saloon. She was "Princess Maybe, Tyler", "Caroline", and "KatieMarie05". Whoever this person is, they were logged using the same IP address for all 3 accounts and was a huge faker from the beginning, known as "MandyInTheCoupe".

Exactly.

This was just a BS thread to help make the fake persona/user name more believable.

Move along nothing to see here..................
