There were a couple of issues ...
- I did not get the upper spring perches, so I had to have some shipped quickly from AJE. They shipped them very quickly and I had them in 2 days.
- The motor now sits up higher than it did before, so the STB no longer fits, and the hood wouldn't close. It was hitting at the AC compressor. We were able to cut out some of the underhood suport though and now it closes.
- Since the engine sits up higher, now the exhaust rattles a little on the frame on the passenger side. I'm pretty sure I can just take back it to the Midas and get a new intermediate pipe bent for it.
- The headers are routed such that the #4 header is in the way of the spark plug, so you cannot get a socket on the plug. The boot is also burned and was arcing, but we bent it more and now it is not arcing, but I still need to replace it with a 90* boot. And naturally, the plug is loose, so now I get to take the header off to tighten it. I'm going to send a pic or 2 to George over at Accufab.
Impressions ...
It is a nice piece. The design is completely different from the previous design, all improvements. Stronger all around. The motor mounts are different and the power steering mounting points are stronger.
He also found a vacuum leak that may explain the mysterious pinging I was seeing as 3000 rpm under heavy throttle.
You have no idea how happy I am to have it back on the road. I still have a few things to do, but this is real progress. I got a new Lokar shifter and cable for it ... that's next. Then it is off to the upholstery guy for new seat covers.
