Hello,

As of tonight, l am now a member of StangNet.com all the way from Toronto, Canada. l am looking forward to seeing some of the builds you guys/gals have as well learning more about the 1964.5 - 1970 Mustangs.

My question is regarding replacement spark plugs for the 289 engine currently in my 1966 Mustang. The engine is completely stock with the exception of Petronix Ignition, Coil and 8.8mm wires. Currently the car has Autolite 45's. I was doing a little reading earlier and someone mentioned NGK AP6FS though it would seem those are available from UK/AU.

What would you recommend as a best plug for my application?

It is an excellent place for info you just have to be patient. Sometimes you will get an immediate answer and sometimes it may take a few days. This board is maintained by volunteers and the rest of us are enjoying our hobby just like you but can't be on here 24/7. There is not going to be a lot of action on here between Friday evening at 10 pm and sat morning at 11 am. You can also do a search on here to find other threads that address your very question. This subject has been brought up many times.

As far as your plugs you will likely get a few different opinions of what is "best" As for my opinion, those plugs you have should work just fine for your application.
Which Pertronix setup are you running (I, II, III)? Which coil (60,000 volt)?

I think you will be fine with that setup and probly wont see any performance gains by switching to other plugs, however here are some suggestions if you still want to upgrade
E-plugs

And an addition to your setup which will fire the plug twice and is adjustable to delay the second strike. This insures the best or most complete fuel burn. it also has a rev limiter built in also adjustable.
