Hello everyone. Glad to be apart of the crew, I recently just got a 2002 mustang. And I have some questions about the issues I’m having. I got the mustang after I wrecked my 94. I have a 2002 5 speed mustang now I’m driving. But I’m having issues with when I pull off the car jerks and rattles a bit up into 3rd - 4th gear. I’m not really sure the issue the guy told me I need a transmission mount. But I’m just curious what everyone else thinks about it. 213k on the dash

Welcome and you may want to post your question up over in the "1996 - 2004 SN95 Mustang -General/Talk" forum as you will get more traffic there.

If you want to check for transmission mount failure I would put a jack under the tail housing of the transmission and gently pick up on it to see if the trans mount bushing has failed. You could also have some motor mounts aging out at well and you can find spots on the block to pick up on with a jack to see if they have failed as well.

With 213K miles on it and if you do not know the history on the car my next thought is the clutch is going away. No other way to check that other than dropping the transmission, bell housing, and clutch assembly.

Have you check for codes? Even if the CEL is not illuminating there could be codes.

Yeah I don’t know much about the history, I did run codes and it’s showing o2 censors because there is none on it. I don’t wanna say the trans it’s self is bad i just hope it’s the trans mount it’s self. Very simple to replace but not the transmission itself

Wait, it’s running bad and there are no O2’s??? I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say it needs them unless they have been tuned out.
