Hey all, thought I would share my plan for this 88 GT and see if more experienced people could chip in and maybe set me straight.

1)my motor needs redone

2)I'm poor, so I can't order a dss 347

3)I can afford a 351 from faster 50s(like 900 shortblock), but I can't afford that and a tremec tranny and I think my currently working t-5 would quit shortly after installing a 351.

4)I have a lot of performance parts from this old motor that are either very recent, or brand new, bought a set of world victor junior cast heads nib, nice roller rockers, 2 sets hardened frp pushrods, all new stuff for 500 as a package. Still have C&L mass air/elbow/bbk fenderwell/bbk tb/24 lb injectors/cobra upper/lower
(2 sets), msd ignition, new exhaust from shortys back, shortys are about done, was considering selling one set of cobras and buying ceramic shortys from ????

5)Get old block cleaned up, maybe bored 20-30 over if needed, new main/rod/cam bearings, crank turned, etc re-use old factory forged pistons. Am I asking for trouble keeping the lower end all stock, I will never spray this motor. Will these heads flow ok with this set-up?

So what do you think? Setup decently matched? Other ideas? please let me know as I have the itch to take this thing down to the machine shop and as they say...git er dun!!!

Do you mean World Windsor Jr. heads? Victor Jr. are Edelbrock. There will be a lot involved in swapping to the 351, so that might be more work and money than you want. I would just rebuild the stock engine like you mentioned. If they're windsor jr's, you can run those heads, run the cobra intake, and the injectors you bought. Then just find a good cam to match, and you should have a pretty strong running combo for cheap.

yep you guys are right, they are windsor juniors, I can afford the 351 and the parts needed for the swap, but then I have a problem transmission wise. my t-5 still works fine, but I don't think it would last long behind a 351, I prefer stick, so I guess that would mean tremec, maybe a 3550? Seems like cheapest I've seen is around a grand...am I right? Correct me if I'm wrong but theres not a lot you can do to a t-5 to make it handle a medium 351 right?

Personally I like the g-force kits better than tremecs. My buddy has a 3550 in his car, and it had to be rebuilt recently. The 3550 has a much lower power rating than a g-force t-5, and most tremecs are notorious for hard shifting.
