I am purchasing a 93 gt roller and im kinda stuck on what setup id like to do. I owned an 89 lx with a gt40 long block, gt40 heads, e303 cam, all forged internals, tricklfow upper and lower intake, etc. All this was in the car when i purchased it. Now, i do know my fair knowledge about foxs/mustangs in general yet i just dont know where to start with this new project. Should i purchase a comeplete crate motor? (gt40, d.s.s. short block 306, etc.) or it has the original shortblock still bolted up to the tranny i could build off of. I even consider swapping in an 99 or 01 4v cobra motor or even a terminator motor :). even though i would imagine there would be alot of fabrication involved. This cars goal is to be a nice weekend/nice day cruisier and up to the track on tues nights every now and then. So 90% of its drive time will be street. Just let me know what you guys think. Im open to all opinions. Thanks, Shawn

A lot of this depends on if you are able/willing to build it yourself. I'm assuming there is not much of a budget limit as you were talking about a mod motor in a FOX.

If you want a crate motor I'd look at the roush stuff. Yeah it pricey but it's rock solid.

If you were to build it yourself the easiest avenue is to do a 347. You can get 450 HP and very nice street manners pretty easily.

Even if you go with a crate motor a 347 is the way to go IMO.

I personally am gathering funds for my 2nd 351w based block in my 82GT. I'll be doing a 393w, due to is simplicity.

Stock sized 302 pistons, Stock sized 351 connecting rods, and a 3.85" crankshaft. Crane has a retro roller lifter kit that allows for the use of any of the roller cams that are available to the 5.0 motor. Depending on carb or efi, the intake manifolds are simple. use the 351 lower from an efi motor, and it bolts on directly with a gt40 upper! You'll need a 28oz flywheel, and fox swap headers.

The motor drops in using same motor mounts, (get poly for the extra inches)
The motor uses the same transmissions,
The motor has MORE CUBIC INCHES!

Anything you can build with a 347, you can build better with a 393. With the money you save on the easy rotating assembly, buy some badass heads. I plan on it myself.
