New Mustang Owner!

BAH! Just realized my name came out BlackBullitt359 insteady of 3590. Oh well haha.

Hey everybody! My name is James. A while back I tried to sell my 2006 Acura RSX Type S. After a while I came to realize that private party there was not a big market for the car, but trading was an option. Well to make a long story short because I am tired I came across a 2001 Bullitt at the new Lowe Toyota in Warner Robins GA and I did not want to pass up on the opportunity. I went back the next day to talk to the dealer, then did a little research, and three days later I am the proud owner of a Black 2001 Bullitt GT #3590! (I believe there were only 1818 made in Black if my information is correct). I'm looking forward to learning alot and really making this car into something to be proud of! Anyways thanks for looking and here is the good stuff :nod::

I bet it feels alot better than the RSX....

I love that manifold but the BBK CAI for this car is about $100 more than just a GT since it is the same as the Cobra. Oh well it's not that important at the moment lol.

Getting Flows put on tomorrow and maybe do 3" rolled tips instead of the 2.5". The 3 should fill up the bumper cut-outs quite nicely and come Saturday I might be heading to Summit in Mcdonough to pick up an X-pipe I see that you have MAC exhaust on yours. How do you like it? The MAC mufflers are cheaper at a local exhuast shop, and I heard a vid of a MAC setup that sounded GREAT but I am just not sure. The Flows are going to run me about $50 more than the MAC installed.

And my friend has some Ford Racing lowering springs he took off his GT to put on Sportlines he told me I could pick up from his place, Free lowering for now

Oh and it is DEFINITELY much more fun than the RSX. I love that car, and it was quick (14.8@93 with just exhaust and lowering springs) but nothing beats the feel of a Mustang IMO. I guess you always go back to your roots.

It might be more expensive for the Bullit CAI, but look at this way... u have a better flowing manifold, better throttle body, & it looks a hell of alot better than the regular 2V manifold. As far as the CAI, I would look into the JLT over the BBK. The JLT's produce the best ##'s, but they just dont look as cool.

Actually I only have Mac headers & o/r H, but my catback is a custom Bassani catback. Mac stuff is great for the price, but Im not too familiar with there catbacks. Ive heard that they sound alot like flows, but louder. I think the Flows will be fine, but I would get 3 1/2 rolled tips because they fill the cutouts perfectly. I think your stock tips should be 3 inch rolled tips, I know the Mach tips are & I think the Bullits have the same ones from the factory...

your Bullit should be able to run a full second faster than your RSX, bone stock...

Im glad you went back 2 your roots!!! Good luck with the car & keep it clean....How many miles does it have BTW?

Welcome and nice car. The bullit and mach interior is my favorite. I wish I could get those gauges. Oh and if you think 14.8 is fast just wait till you take the stang out to the track. A few people have gotten them 13.5-13.7 stock.

Again thanks for the welcomes. I will probably go with the flows as I know how they will sound great. I will definitely look into the JLT as #'s are more important than looks IMO. I'm pretty sure these tips are 2.5" but I will grab the 3" when I get to the shop and take them out to compare.

I knew the RSX wasn't what I would consider fast, just quick . Considering what my first car was. . . it was a definite improvement but I was paying way too much for a high 14 car. Although I did feel sort of proud because the best a professional driver pulled out with a stock RSX was a 14.8. Granted I had exhaust and springs but just adding a cat-back to those cars does not improve horsepower. My first car was a 1986 Pontiac TransAm 305 4bbl. (16.5@83 lol). But it looked great and got me back and forth to school. The way I work it is looking like I will never get the stang to the track but I'm gonna try to request a few days off since my birthday is 10 days away.

The day I picked the car up it had 42,601 miles on it. Only 19,500 more miles than my 2006 RSX

Sweet car and congrats I have the Flowmaster American Thunders on mine and can tell you the MACs will last longer with less drone @3K rpm. I would get the MACs over Flows. Borlas are my favorite but too darn expensive for me

Just doing the mufflers like I am today I will go ahead and tell you the Borlas are the same price as the Flowmasters. Flowmaster just upped the price of their mufflers 18%. The MACs are cheaper. Basically the shop told me $190 for the MACs installed, $225 for Borla installed, $240 for Flows installed.

This really makes me want the MAC mufflers

His says it is a MAC catback but if I have the exhaust shop do the mufflers and buy a MAC o/r H-pipe it should sound just like this shouldn't it? (Well he has a CAI would be the only other difference)

Definitely go with mac. They are the best chambered mufflers for these cars and they also sound a little deeper then the flows. I use to run macs. Get the stainless steal version if you can.

I'm not sure what the macs he has are made of but I will find out. After hear that youtube video I definitely want to go with those. The H-pipe is starting to look like the best bet as it gets a deeper sound. I know the x-pipe is supposed to give you a little more raspy, high sound. Is there much of an advantage to an x over h? if not I'll be ordering the MAC o/r H-pipe very soon

James, it all depends on the type of sound you want. Flowmasters and Borla both have very distinct sounds.
The Flowmasters will give you more of the clean, deep old-school muscle sound, especially teamed up with a good H-pipe.
I have the regular Borla cat-back (not the stingers) with a Bassani off-road X-pipe and man it's a rowdy sound. It's just loud and bad-nothing clean about it, it's almost evil sounding. And when it revs high, you'd swear you were at NASCAR!

Don't get me wrong, I very much apprciate both sounds and sometimes wish I had the cleaner musclecar sound, but it's not too often I hear another stang as rowdy and unique as mine! Plus I like the stainless Borla uses. Top notch quality!

Yeah I'm really just looking for a deep rich sound. And the MACs seem to have it. Especially in that video. I think that's what I'm gonna go with to be honest. Don't want anything too rowdy sounding as I'm gonna be driving this everyday and I like to hear my music . And since I'm not buying a full cat-back just having the mufflers welded in the MACs I think will give me the most 'bang for my buck'.

Yeah MACs with a O/R H-pipe will give you a very nice deep growl When I put in my Flows with the o/r h-pipe and started the car for the first time my dog pissed himself and ran straight into a wall
I was just watching Motor Week (like 30 sec ago) and they tested the new Bullit and I gota say the 01 was way better IMO. The new one looks like a LX with dual exhaust

Very nice car man, you got a nice deal.

As far as the exhaust I also reccomend Mac's.

Here are some clips from my car. UPR catless X pipe and Mac Flowpaths... They will sound AWESOME with either an H pipe, X pipe, or Prochamber.

X pipes will produce the most power, and pull harder on the top end. The difference in peak power between an H and X pipe is minimal, but if you are squeezing every last bit out an X will generally do the job better than an H. They also sound more "exotic" and have more of a nascar pitch to them than say... an old school muscle car.

The Mac Prochamber is the best of both worlds. X performance and x/h sound... very unique.
