I have a 2K GT with 62K miles on it Mods as Follow: K&N FIPK 2*Accufab 70mm TB* Dragon UPR* March UDP's* BBK LT's* BBK O/R H the rest I dont think could have any affect...

Anyways I have always ran the car on 89 octane just to compensate for the $hity California gas with zero problems, then yesterday I was driving up to Oregon and when I was on the free way I took it up to redline in third gear and right at 6K it started pinging Bad... So I thought that was weird and wrote it off as bad gas, while I was up in Oregon I filled the tank up again with Oregon (good) 89 octane gas. The car still pings at 6K. Anyone have any ideas on why it would start pinging all of the sudden. I havent changed anything in months... I seafoamed it like 2-3 months ago. I am at a loss, is there anything that could be going out like a sensor based upon my mileage that could cause this? Dirty MAF? On a side note my K&N is pretty dirty as it has been on for almost a year and I havent cleaned it, I am going to go outside and do that and disconnect the battery but if anyone else has any input that would be huge.

Thanks in Advance:SNSign:

that sounds like detonation sir, be vewy vewy careful....you might consider try 92 octane fuel to see if it goes away. You'll probably need a tune. Don't take your car to redline anymore, untill you get the 92 octane going, or you get it tuned, this will destroy your motor

No I know, its definately detonation and I realize how bad it is for our pistons... I just pulled out my K&N and cleaned it so tommorrow morning I will re-oil it and put it back in. I am also leaving the battery cable disconnected over-night.

I just cant understand why it would start all of the sudden. Could spark plugs needing to be replaced cause it? Or the IAC, or EGR?
