New paint....man....I dont like it....

Find a paint store that has a paint camera. I t takes the original color and shades it to match your paint perfect. It is very easy to get paint that has been mixed wrong, each color is added based on weight,so it is easy to pour to much or too little of a color

I feel your pain. I had the same situation with my 69. The doors had a few dings so I had them redone about 8 years ago, computer matched paint etc.
The result on my original paint..Wimbleton White..are doors that are a little deeper in color...makes the rest of the car look faded. Not that noticeable unless you are looking at just the right angle. However, it really shows up in pictures.

Maybe it's the basecoat/clearcoat vs the original enamel??

You could also take it to a paint shop and have one of their cameras take a pic of your paint and have them download it into the computer.....it will tell you what color paint you have.

(a little different than shading the same color as on there now like someone else mentioned)

If they take the pic and it comes out something other than springtime yellow, id go back to the paint shop.

The original paint WAS more cream than yellow.

Are you painting all of the car? How old is the paint that is on it now? If it is orginial and you are painting the whole car then you want to try to match the jams or under the deck lid. If you are painting parts of the car then you want to match the body panel that is next to what you are painting. As far as getting the wrong mix a good paint store should not send out a bad mix. And for paint cameras (Spectophotometer) most are all made by one Company (X-Rite) for all of the paint companys. There is not a guarantee of a perfect paint match and if a paint store tells you that they are full of poo. These are just another tool to help us. I have one that we use every day and I have seen it hit some near perfect matches (blendable) and I have seen it come up with some stuff that is not even in the ball park. Chances of you taking your car in and getting it shot and the computer coming up with springtime yellow are slim to none. It just reads color no matter make or model. Color match also depends on what type of paint you get. You will get your best colormatches with high end base/clear. So if you are useing low end paint dont expect a great color match. The best thing to do if you are unhappy with the color is take what you want matched to the paint store and talk to them. They may have to hand match your color.

We just got my gf's 67 coupe back from the paint shop, and the color is more white/creme than yellow. It looks nice to me, but alot of people think yellow car and chrome yellow comes to mind, and seeing springtime yellow is a disappointment to them. I realize you know what the yellow is supposed to look like, so maybe it did get mixed wrong, i dont know. Good luck!

I feel your pain. I had some small paint work done on my 69 and well, I guess GSA is bad about fading out cause the paint shop could not match it. The new paint was darker. Fortunately, the area I wanted painted was not going to be seen so I had it done anyway.
