new personal Best (and beat a vette doing it!)

Well I went back out to the track tonight. I really didnt want to race because I was having to run the car on motor since I traded the nitrous off. BUT, I decided to go ahead and make a few runs. To say the least, I was STOKED. I was on a 275/40/17 riken raptor. Here's my personal best for the day. Remember, we dont have a 1/4 track, it's only 1000ft.

1.86 60ft
8.44 1/8th
84mph 1/8th
10.76 1000ft
97.4mph 1000ft

The DA was ridiculously low today. I dont remember the exact number, but it was great. The track was hooking great, and with the cold air, the car was running awesome. To make things even better, I got paired up against a C6 corvette on that 10.76 run. That guy was so mad when he got beat. I am waiting on a friend of mine to upload the video of the vette race. I will upload it on here as soon as he get's it done.

Sweet! I don't know what good 1/8 mile times are and I'm too tired to look it up but your 60' times look good. What was your RT? Glad you kicked some vette ass. I was paired up against what I think was a C6 but ended up getting a Z06 or something like that and he kicked my ass... :rlaugh:

From my experience at the track, it isn't common to see a really fast vette. Most of the vettes I see are in dire need of a good driver.

The video made me laugh... 10.76 with a STOCK 02 GT. Right... aren't you running a teksid bottom end and PI top end? What's the rest of the combo?

Also, 9.7 is hauling ass in the 1000'. That's something like an 11.8 in the 1320? Best I've done is 10.2. Ahh, high compression and nitrous. :D

LMAO this motor has 146,000 miles on it. No teksid block or anything else. It is as factory as an 02 can be from the throttle body down to the oil pan. A friend of mine posted the video and put stock GT. But it is not far from it, I can promise you that. I'm not trying to brag or toot my own horn, but the driver mod is what plays into these times. 6 years of going to the same track every weekend helps. The DA being -310 also helps. The FULL mod list is as follows;

JLT cold air intake
SCT SF3 tuner
Mac O/R prochamber
Flowmaster's dumped
MGW shifter
UPR adjustable lower control arms

Other than that, it's bone stock. Stock gears, stock pulleys, stock TB/Plenum, stock intake, stock cams, stock heads, stock manifolds, stock driveshaft, ect ect.

I have already found another ZEX nitrous kit. If I can sell a couple things off of my fox body, I am going to go pick it up and try and have it all installed and ready to go in 2 weeks.

The vette was an automatic with stock gears. It was finishing in the top of 2nd gear.

The Vette did spin quite a bit... I can't wait to put some meat on the rears. I'll be racing this next Spring again but will be doing some suspension/tire mods before then. ...and I hate racing at 6,000ft.

I wish my GT would pull those times on motor. Then again, haven't had the chance to run it in cool, clear weather in years. When I did, I was on 28" tires and stock gears... haha, bog city.

Thanks guys.

I have a set of 4.30's sitting in my garage, but I think it would be to low for me. I have a fox body rear end that I am about to start building (31 spline Moser axles, locker, Main girdle, and probably Aerospace rear brakes) and it has 3.73's so I might end up running them. I havent really decided yet. It's hard to make myself get rid of the 3.27's because of the fuel mileage.

I am putting some UPR double adjustable upper control arm's in next weekend along with some full length subframe connectors. I'm really hoping to get my short time down to some 1.7x's

If you are racing the 1000ft, you might get away with 3.73s being the best gear. It might save you from shifting right before the traps depending on your RPM and tire. I wasn't a big fan of 3.73's at 103-104mph in the 1/4 with a t45.

LOL, I had a 97 gt along time ago that was bone stock. Well I decided I was going to try and see what times i could get out of it. Well, a friend of mine had some 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson drag radials mounted on some Telstars. We slapped those things on and I was dumping it on the rev limited and it would jump out about 1 foot, then die, literally. It was the funniest thing ever.
