So a few years ago, I had a guy port my SVO heads, he did it during a rebuild. At the time I wasn't terribly educated on head flow. The guy told me 233 intake and 190 on the exhaust. Pretty good numbers, or so I thought.

So I had to rebuild the engine recently and got the heads checked and only got 227 and 162. Needless to say I was a little peeved.

So on a recommendation, I sent my heads to Fox Lake Racing and here are the results. Intake flow looks pretty awesome. Also, considering the size of the exhaust valve, I have to say I am extremely impressed. The engine is going back together @ Dallas Mustang starting tomorrow. I am pretty excited to see what they can do.

Kudos to Ron at Fox Lake for these works of art, I will get pics up in a couple of days.

Here are the flow numbers on a stock bore pipe (3.55"/90.2mm) at 28" h20 all figures in CFM

INTAKE EXHAUST
.100 - 72 60
.200 - 143 103
.300 - 195 135
.400 - 214 153
.450 - 230 169
.500 - 238 185
.550 - 248 194
.600 - 257 196

These are with a 1.84" intake valve and a 1.41" exhaust.

I can't wait to see what the car makes after everything goes back together. Everything in my signature is being used, but I am thinking about changing cams. The heads continue increasing flow all the way to .600" (especially the intake side) and Fox Lake upgraded me to 26125 Comp springs good to 600", but my comp XE270AH sticks only go to .550".

I originally bought the cams for naturally aspirated use, and being designed for the PI head, they favor the exhaust duration considerably. If anyone has any recommendations please feel free to give them.

Right now I am considering either a set of stage 2 Trick flows, just keeping the 270's, or a custom Comp grind. The trick flows have the same duration at .050" (234/238) but have .580" lift versus 550".

Anyways, sorry about the long post, opinions are welcome.

Ron didn't have any specific recommendations, except to say that if I go above .580" that I need to have modifications done to the valvetrain ( either the followers or the lash, I can't remember). He said the intake could definitely benefit from more lift, but the exhaust is pretty much maxed out and there isn't really enough room for a larger diameter valve guide.

I still haven't had a chance to upload my photos, or call Comp about a custom grind...stupid job!

I would keep the 270's.
