Ok i finally got the old 3.55 open out and the new 3.80 trak-loc in. Took her for a spin, did several tight left and right circles per instructions to get the modifer worked in. Drove car about 25 miles and parked her. She did good, no weird stuff or noises, ran smooth. Pulled into school parking lot and did my first little burn out and guess what? It worked, laid two nice 10 ft long patches. I didn't get on it at all just took it easy.
Well I just checked under the car. It appears it may have a very small leak, nothing on ground yet but what appears to be a accumlation starting on the housing itself. I guess I'm going to try and retigthen the bolts after cool down. I sure don't want to pull it all back apart. I have rear disc's and it's a pain in the A#*...
Anyone have any advise on leaks? If it is small should I even worry about it?

Did you use sealer on the pumpkin gasket? If you're not adverse to having a greasy housing, then you could leave it alone. Gear oil creeps like you wouldn't believe, though. It will spread.

Yeah, i used rtv around all stud holes and gasket surface.. I just re torqued the bolts as I only did 35 ft lbs to start. I just put 40lb on them. My shop manual says 35-40 anyway.

that rear end heats up and the metal can expand, very typical. so just after every other drive or so i would go tighten them all.

Thanks for the advice, I will for sure do that. I think the leak is about stopped now after I retigten them..

rpm's are not that bad 60-3064
70-3575 this is a w/ 25" tire.
it's hardly a noticeable difference from the 3.55's I had..

Matt, that was a sweet burnout you have. Let me ask you, your T5 ,does it have the 3.35 1st gear or the 2.95 ratio. Reason I ask is that I have a 1993 T5 w/ the 3.35 1st gear to go in my car once i get the rest of the parts. I was a bit worried that w/ the new gear and much stepper ratio's w/ the t5 that my first gear may be super short...any thoughts?? When you going back to the track and break into the 13's?? I'm shouting for next month I still need to relocate my battery so I can hook up my ram air box. My goal is to get 13's w/ the stock heads...I have some 165 AFR's on the way....

i have the 2.95 first gear. I will be getting into the 13's as soon as i can get my finger on a pair of drag radials or slicks. Im in a money crunch right now so its kinda hard. I just wish i could borrow some ones for one night at the track lol
