New Puppy

I bought I AKC Purple Ribbon Pitbull. She is about 11 weeks old and an awesome dog! I meant to post pictures about two weeks ago but college and work has been taken up all my time.

By any chance did you buy her from a lady in Salem?

Yes I did, the lady had three females and on male when I was there. I almost bought the male and female because I was having troubles making a decision.

I figured, she looks way to close in build to my male. He has turned out to be a great dog, you'll be real happy with her. Lots of energy.

Nice looking pup, are you going to do the tail and ears ? How must was the male going for with papers ?

I do not think I am going to do the tail and ears. The male with papers was going for $450 which I thought was a good price but they hadn't had any shots. I have pictures of their previous dogs they sold where the ears and tail had been done below.

Without the ears and tail done, I think they call it cropping from what the lady said but I can't remember

Ya they look pretty agressive with there ears cropped and tails. Its just a matter of what ya like . I'd crop the ears and tails for sure. If you do it when there young enough its not to hard on them. My dobbies ears and tail were done and he was fine. The tail will be wacking everything off your tables and everyone else if you dont have it done imo.Either way great looking congrats:nice:

Yeah...... it depends on what look you're going for. If you want a cute friendly looking dog, don't do it. If you want your dog to look a little more aggressive, cropping the ears will do that.

Congrats though! Puppies are a blast.

I agree totaly:nice: Cropping the ears takes alot of work after also to make sure they both stand up straight and you have to tape them up and its hard on the dog pulling the tape off cleaning the ears and re taping every week, I had A red doberman papers ect. his parents were show dogs and grandparents. I was going to breed him and and show him but never did. The breeders told me to use tampons lol to hold his ears up and tape them. It worked great but I hated buying them at the store....lol.

Yeah I don't need to make look more aggresive because its already hard on the moms daycare clients with a purebreed pitbull. I think its all how they are raised and trained anyways.
Its definately how you raise them but its much easier to bring the aggressive side out of them when training and raising them. There actualy very lovable dogs you just want to be on there good side lol.. you need to show them whos boss whwen there young or you will have problems. I dont mean beat them either as you know and you dont want to break there spirit. When My dobie was about 7 or 8 months old and we were playing he didnt want to stop and starting barking at me and being very aggressive like he was mad grabbed a hold of my shirt and started tearing it. Well it was on, fortunately he was small enough then and I tackled him, pinned him to the ground pushed my head against his and told him sternly I was the boss and looked him straight in the eyes. After that he never challenged me again, thank god cause he ended being about a 120 lb dobie and he wasnt fat actualy big boned , big chest and lean. He ended up having the best of both worlds great watch dog, very noble, loveable great with my kid, very protective over him and myself although he never liked my x very much and cant say I blame him he was very good judge of character. I sure miss him:(

 Ya that is prettty funny thinking back on it..lol.. fortuntately it wasnt nwhen he was full grown he was 3 or 4 months but he did look funny those in his ears. Espicaly because at the time he had this tiny little body he was trying to grow into, huge feet, i mean really huge and a big head, he was totaly out of proportion. Looked kinda like a cross between scobbie-do and bambi:D

You know you've got a good point thats probably why he wanted to kick my butt that time when he was around 7 months old. He was having flashbacks of me putting tampons in his ears everyweek when he was a puppy:D
