Hey guys,
This is my first mustang, and I love her to death. I've had it for a week and I'm already getting paranoid about noises. So here's whats going on -
I have a strange rattle coming from somewhere, I can't quite make out where it is. It is noticeable in most all the gears, and 3x as noticeable when the car is cold. It has a certain rev range and throttle that it likes to make itself known, I can really get it to sing in 3rd, at about 2000 revs, under maybe 10% throttle. It's a very fast rattle, my best guess is valve noise, but I hear some guys say that a loose or bumped midpipe can cause this. I have scraped my midpipe in the time I've owned the car. (I think, might have been the mufflers..)
Anyways, onto the video. Car is cold here, this is pulling out of work. I noticed the noise bounce off the walls as I drove by and figured tonight was the night I post something about it. The rattle comes through at about :07, a little stab at :15, another at :19. Thinking back, probably should've rolled up the windows. My apologies.
Thanks for any and all of the help guys. I hope to be a member for a long time, assuming this baby holds together on me. Ha!
EDIT: Also wanted to mention, my untrained ears aside, I can't seem to replicate the noise when the car isn't under load. Tugging on the throttle in my garage seems to show me nothing. Strange..
