Greetings,
I just bought an 02 Mustang GT. It had on it when I bought it a mac off road H pipe, no cats, and full mac exhaust. I really enjoyed the sound of my last mustang with the SLP loudmouth exhaust on it. . . so I installed that tonight. Problem! Too loud. . .actually not too loud. I get the loud raspy crackling around 3000 to 4000 RPM. I really liked the sound of my last one with the factory H pipe and cats, and the slp cat back exhaust. I'm looking for that tone, and no raspy crackling. ANybody recommend an aftermarket Hpipe that has a similar sound as stock? or anybody want to trade a stock H pipe for my mac?

Just get you a catted h pipe, non stock that is. Whats wrong with rasp. I understand its not for everyone. I'd think it would sound good. A catted midpipe will fix that

I love the tone of the exhaust. . .and the bark that It makes as you increase in power and RPM. . . but that rasp is obnoxiously loud and overpowering. . . and in my opinion takes away from the beautiful aggressive tone that the mustang makes. So a catted midpipe or h pipe. . . any suggestions? Could I buy two high flow cats and install them in the midpipe? This leads me to my next question. The car seemed to get a little slower after the SLP install. . . and feels considerably slower than my 03 with stock H and Same cat back did. This car has 02 foolers. I have Autoenginuity to run diagnostics. . . but am new to the 02 sensor world. What am I looking for as far as how my air fuel ratio is? I'm thinking I would rather install some 02's. . . and keep factory programing. . . or should I get some aftermarket programing? I gotta think there is a lot of potential there. Please let me hear your thoughts!

You are correct that your car feels slower. The reason is you lost back pressure resulting in a loss of low end torque. You may have gained some hp up top but to me I want as much low end torque as possible to get me moving. Personally I would never run an off road mid pipe for that reason and I don't like the sound they give the exhaust. I have an MRT-Catted H and love it with my packs. If you want a sound that was close to your old car but with more performance get a catted H.
