hey guys a couple weekends ago i got a new smog pump cuz my old one ****ed up on me... i was wanting to know how to check the valves and how long i can drive with it pretty much just blowing air into nothing before my cats start plugging up?
All I have been able to find on this is in the Chilton Manual.
For the check valves you will want to look for evidence that hot exhaust gasses have been getting through the check valve. This will show by burnt up/charred hoses. Also, if you disconnect the hose from the valve, exhaust gasses should not be exiting through the valves.
The inspection for the other valves is more complicated.
