+1 on new Toyotas being ugly.

My extended family has had a lot of Toyotas throughout the years, and I'm not huge on them. My first car was a 1987 Corolla which was given to me at age 17. My family always maintained it, and it blew up at 127K miles.

My grandpa had a 4cyl Toyota truck for the longest time, and it ran for a long time, but it ran like crap, and got the MPG you'd expect from a V6 truck.

Also, if you look at Toyota's recall record over the last 5 years, they have had to do more than almost any other company. I don't think they're really bad cars, just not much better than anything else out there.

I think it looks awesome. But I would have been happier with an inline 6 with a turbo. I just don't know if I dig v8s in an import. I'm also guessing it's going to be heavy. Damnit Toyota inline 6 turbo!!!

I agree. That is another reason why I do not own one, on top of the lack of performance. They're clearly doing something right though because they're making more money than all the other manufacturers combined.

I don't know if I agree with this. I love my Mustang and would probably never own a Toyota, but I do think they are the best made cars on the road (Honda's are good too).

I dislike the newer azn car designs (for the most part) aka bubble/jelly bean design. Especially the cars in those pics.


I like cars that are low, wide (vette wide, not s2000 wide) , and have two doors.

I think a lambo would be perfect for me

you have obviously never sat in a lambo or been for a ride in one.....the turning radius is awful, the seats are uncomfortable, and the ride is stiff beyond belief.....but then again, if you are buying a lamborghini im pretty certain your biggest concern is attracting attention though so who cares about everything else.

I found it pretty hard to find data broken down for each manufacturer by year. But here is what I came up with in about 15 minutes of searching.

Here is a link showing that in 2005 both Ford and Chevy led the way in recalls.

Ford - 6 Million vehicle
GM - 5 Million vehicles
Toyota - 2.2 Million vehicles
DC - 766,000 vehicles

Chevy - 10.5 million

I'm not trying to be the Toyota Nazi just because I work there What you were saying just didn't seem accurate to me. The data I came up with was more along the lines of what I expected. Unless you have data that proves different than what I have come up with

1 - Toyota is the best made car on the road.

2 - That car is fugly as a coupe, but I KINDA like it topless.

3 - For 50 gs I'll take a 2006 Z51 Vette over that anyday, for performance and looks.

4 - The Gen 2 Supras are just sexy... I agree with the jelly bean comment above.

No, I'm sure your right on the recalls. I found that article that I read awhile back, and it was a toyota-specific article. It just talked about how they had 2.2 million recalls, and that their recall numbers had been increasing, not that there weren't others that were higher. My mistake.

Again, I'm not saying thier bad cars. All I'm saying is that with MY experience, they haven't been any more reliable than other cars. Not bad, just nothing special. I know they have a big reputation for being reliable.

I'm not trying to bust your balls. It just like anything...a hundred people may have great experiences but there is always that exception to the rule. You can't blame that one person for their setiment if that is what they experienced.
