Hi everyone. Itss been a long timee since I posted anything here. Recently I have been having thoughts of buying a new stang. As i am in love with the new 5.0 engine. Itss awsome. Unfortunatly I am a purest and new cars are a bit of a turn off due to all the gov mandates. But the 11 GT and BOSS really get my juices flowing. So....

I have a few hang ups and hope some of you can help me understand the consequences of new government BS that is on hot rods now a days.

1) TPMS. Can it be shut off by a tunner? I'm fully capable of checking tires on my own.
2) If TPMS cannot be shut off and I don't reset the pressures, what are the consequences? IE, does the traction conttrol stay on full time, or any other anoying "feature" I may not be aware of.
3) Does the mustang TPMS just have an idot light, or does it actually tell you the tire pressure? If so I would be much less inclined to hate it.

TC
1) Can traction control be shut off by a tunner?
2) Even better. Can it be switched so that its normally off but on when manual switched. Instead of normally on and only off when switched.

Head rests:
1) Does anyone know if there are aftermarket head rests that don't force you to stare at your crotch while driving? I'm seriouse on this one. I have good posture and sitting in a car build after 2007 is down right painful the way the headreasts force ones head far forward and down. I'd hate to have to buy a whole new aftermarket seat just because the head rest was designed by some hunch back NHTSA engineer.

I never really saw anyone drive with their head back against the headrest. On my 08, the tpms chimes once every time I start the car. Yes, it's annoying for a tire that just has a slow leak.

Traction control can be turned off by a center console switch.
TPMS sensors could be removed at tire change, I believe there is an internal connection to deal with as well. I don't find it intrusive.

I know TC can be shut off. But I'm wondering if it can be shut off while the tpms light is on. There are cars that do not allow this to happen.

The TC can be shut off, low tire or not. The TPMS light is just that, an idiot light. No tire pressure reading display.

I am with you on this one. My wife and I both dislike the headrests. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!

I drive a 2011 w/ the brembo package, and thus far, I've rotated my tires, and even dropped the rear tires to 24 psi the last time i went to the strip, and I have ever had the TPMS go off. No chime, no idiot light, nothing.I don't know if thats a brembo package thing, or I just got extremely lucky and my TPMS system is faulty.

I am just curious.... If you are a purest and the government mandates turn you off..... how old of a car do you drive to avoid any mandates? Not sure when the "man" got involved in car safety but I bet it was soon after the first horse was scared by a car. lol

As for the '11s, There are some that have removed the headrests and put a bend in the shafts to give a tilt back from the stock position. Not the best of things on a new car but I have seen them done and they look ok.

As for the TPMS, I check my tires all the time but when that light goes of on the highway at 70 mph, it can mean the difference between a safe stop of a major problem.

The TC....again, there is someone out there that wired in a relay to actually shut the TC off when the car starts, then he shuts off the relay if he wants it on. Personally, with the 5.0, I like it on for normal driving. For one, if someone is driving in traffic and the TC is activated, one may be driving a bit to hard in traffic.

Only my thoughts.........
