I picked up a set of Bullitt wheels 17 x 9 and 17 x 10.5. My question is regarding the front tires. There is 245/45 R17 in the rims now and they are too skinny and not enough sidewall, for me and was wondering is 275/40 R17 would be OK for the fronts?

Also any problems running 315/35 R17 on the 10.5 wheels?

Thanks
Joe

It all depends on the backspacing of the wheels. I'm running 275/40-17 on the front and 315/35-17 on the back. 17x9 on the front and 17x10.5 on the rear.

What backspacing are your wheels? Do you have any pics of your car?

I don't know what the backspacing is, I bought them as a set from Latemodel Restoration Supply. The front tires stick out a little more then I like but they don't rub at all. I need to lower it some more though.

I have 255/40ZR17 on the front and 315/35ZR17 on the rear. Everyone has their own opinion, but I dont prefer my front tire to overlap the rim. Here are a couple pics to give you an idea.

I will probably go back to 255's on the front after these are wore out. I don't really care for the way the 275's bulge over the wheel either.

I like the way the 275's look. It looks liek you have the same wheels i do but in chrome.

BlueStallion...do you have a pic of your car from the side? Curious how much sidewall the 255's have. I currently have 245/45 on the front rims and it looks horrible.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

I like my front wheels to have the same bulge as the back ones. I have 275/40s up front, and they do stick out a little bit.

My BBK springs dont do the car justice, they need a coil cut off the front. But here is a shot that you requested. In all honesty, the car looks much better in person, the wheels look like they are 13's in pics.

Videos seem to represent a car more realistically than pics. Here is a short clip of my car rolling on the highway that shows the stance better. Everything is the same as the pic above, but my stance looks so much better in a video. Please ignore the wind noise, the camera was being held by a girl that didnt know to keep it in the car...

Great looking car!!! Sounds good too!!

I've decided on 275/40 R17 for the front and 315/35 R17 for the rear. My next question is where can I get the best deal on tires? So far American muscle has the best deal going at $488 Shipped. Can any place do better?

I have 245 ont he front now and they are too narrow for the 9" rim. Plus not enough sidewall on the 9" rim.

I just bought my tires off American Muscle with the wheels. I dont think you will be able to get too much cheaper than $488 for four tires.

Is $488 for the Sumitomo's?? Just wondering because I haven't heard very good reviews on their tires. When I ordered my wheels from Latemodel Resto I bought Nitto's NT05's from Discount Tire and had them mounted myself.

Front: 17x9 10th Anniversary Replicas on 255/40/17 Nitto NT05
Rear: 17x10.5 10th Anniversary Replicas on 315/35/17 Nitto NT05

I'll get some better pics when I get it back together.
