I just read that article in 5.0 yesterday. Those trannys sound like they are the real deal. However, after reading about the problems that others have had with their TKOs, I'm still in limbo. If you're looking for a good (proven)transmission, you cannot beat a G-Force. Their customer service sucks, but their products are top notch.

That sounds a little high to me. A buddy of mine did a 3550 TKO swap last year, total cost with everything was $1700. The TKO 600 costs a couple hundred bucks more than the 3550 TKO, but the rest of the parts should cost the same. Heck, for $2249 I could get a T56 swap kit! (from http://www.darkhorseperformance.com/)

Edit: maybe that's not as bad as I thought -- if that bellhousing is a scatterhshield, that definitely explains the higher price...

Except for the people who have had the G-Force T-5's break on them. I was real interested in the G-Force until I heard of several people breaking them easily. The TKO may not be the smoothest tranny in the world, but after watching some local guys do 6000 RPM clutch dumps with turbo 5.0's, I'm guessing they're pretty strong :D.

I had a 3550 that I broke the input and output shaft trying to launch at 6000rpm... stuck in a TKO input and outputshaft ( yes it can be done with some machine work) I then broke third gear playing around on the street. Its hard to 60ft a 3,600lb car with out breaking parts. I sold my nitrous kit I never got to use so I could buy a new TKO... wish I would have known about the TKO 600 at the time.

You broke 3rd on a TKO?? Wow...

Same as a 3550... I talked to D&D and they told me the next thing I break would be 3rd. They make a harder third gear upgrade but wanted like 500$ for the parts. The tranny had many years of abuse and I think it was just on its last leg as it was. The new one feels much better.
