I am new to engines, and I want to build an engine, to put in an old mustang so I can go to our local track next summer. I have been looking on ebay at 302 blocks, is that a good place to start? I have an engine stand, i just need a block, or a place to start. How much will it cost to build an engine, I see alot of people bore the 302's .030 over. How much does something like that cost. Any help or advice on where to start i would really appreciate, thanks, kevin

go to http://www.summitracing.com

or http://www.jegs.com

somewhere you can order the free catalog.

check out some of the prices on crate motors...you will be surprised what you can get.

but summit used to sell brand new 5.0 blocks for $250

i think thats where i would start...then do a stroker kit.

make sure you have all your headwork done b4 you install, so you don't have to waste all that time pulling and re-installing later.
