I have a 1995 Mustang cobra. The 5.0 has been replaced with a 351W.It has the Gt 40 heads on it that came on the cobra. They are in need of a rebuild, valves ,guides,seals,etc..I can pick up a set of Gt40P's brand new off a guy for about the same price as getting these heads redone. Is the Gt40p as good a head as the Gt40?Are there any issues to bolting these on as far as headers go and spark plug location?I am running a set of hooker headers now. Thanks for all imput.

Welcome to the forums man.

the P heads are actually a better head than the GT40 regular. If i were in your shoes i would opt for some better heads than the Ps. How much money can you afford to spend?

look around for some used heads. you can find a good set of used Edelbrock Performers/RPMs, or Trick Flows for about that price. keep your eyes open, and don't just settle for something.

How does the 351 fit under the hood. Are you using a cowl or stock hood.

I like TFS Twisted Wedge Heads myself, but that is just me. I would go with Edelbrock or TFS. Those are some really nice namebrand ones. But like everyone says, don't just settle, research it and make sure you know what you want. 800 bucks is a lot to just toss at something that you are not even sure if that is what you want.

Good Luck and Welcome.

Welcome to the forum. You have what I want!...Can't wait to do my lightning 351 swap. Is that the route you went since your 351 has the GT40's? Or did you just buy a crate motor...Was it worth it?

Yes it is the lightning 351. I like the 351 real well. Tons of torque. When I get the heads straighted around it should really make some improvements.
