New to Suspension want to do Coil overs

Hey guys i'm new to the whole suspension deal it's all stock and i want to do something for looks but also for grip wanted to do coil overs need advice on what the best way is a decent brand and what all i would need to do it. I've done coil overs before never on my Mustang mainly on cars with the McPherson struts so i'm little clueless Thanks!

I went with bilstien coilovers from maximummotorsports.com.
Ask there tech dept. about spring rates, they are very helpful.

I've heard peopl saying you have to buy new A arms and crap is that true?

you dont have to,but it would be a good idea if you have bad ball joint's,and bushings.
i would also get a caster/camber kit,dont want to chew up the tires.
also get it aligned.
i use the Eibach Pro-Street kit and kept my stock a arms w/maximum motorsports cc plates.

No, you are not required to get different/new Front Control Arms with Coil-Overs, however, like the previous poster said, if your suspension is stock, the bushings have taken 15 years of abuse and could benefit from some new life.

There are a couple of different Coil-Over setups, but it's hard to argue with the Maximum Motorsports Coil-Over setup on SN-95's. Also, I would say that a Caster/Camber Plate Setup is required with Coil-Overs.

What kind of setup are you looking to go for?

I'm not sure what set up I would like to have something for street and strip but not too pricy. But I don't want to have to change it 2 yrs down the road either i've went the cheap way on things and paid for it in the end

on my 95 i have kyb shocks with the granetteli coilover conversion. the car is lowered 2" all the way around. I also have the cc plates.

with 245 sumitomos, the car pulls 1g in turns.

It sounds like a good setup, but spend some time figuring out what you want your car to really be purposed for, as they are directly related to what spring rates you'll be looking for with your spring setup. It's pretty easy to pick the wrong setup and create a car that handles worse than you'd like/expect. Jack from MM explains it pretty well right here. So basically, take the time to plan out now what all of your suspension mods for the near future will be, and choose the right setup. It's a little thinking and extra work, but for that work, you'll be rewarded with a car that will out handle any other car around.

edit: Also look into getting some subframes to really stiffen and solidify your ride. They're pretty inexpensive and rather easy to install, and you'd be amazed at what they'll do handling-wise.
