As you might have guessed from my login name, I have a 95. Problem is that I need about 3,000 in body work done, and I keep replacing broken or worn out parts since I have 103K on the car. I'm interested in buying a 2000 or newer mustang, but know nothing about the 4.6L engine. It is to my understanding that there are no aftermarket heads available at this time. It would be great if people could post some dyno and strip #'s with their stock heads and internals. Or maybe list the mods with the best gains for the price.

Thanks :D

I ran 13.706s in 1/4 with just the C&L MAF and Pro 5.0 shifter.

I think there are aftermarket heads, Patriot heads?

If I were to go back and do it again, I'd save for a supercharger. The gains from the little bolt ons were kinda disappointing. Supposedly cams are a good money mod but I don't have the money for that and I wouldn't do the labor myself.

Yea, so far I'm sold on the simplicity of modifying a 4.6......plus the stock computer is way better than my $hitty EEC-IV. I like the fact that the car would be at least 5 years newer, with more factory horsepower and torque in a lighter car. My friend just sold a red 35th aniversary with 2,500 miles for 18,000. If I had the money it would have been mine!

Wow, that is crazy low mileage :nice:
Why'd he sell it?

Oh, stock 5 speed 99+ 4.6L's are ~225-230rwhp.

I went from a stock 94 GT to a stock 99 GT and I sometimes miss the look of the 94, I still think the 99 has a more aggressive look.
The engines are world apart however.

I thought that the 302 made as much power as the 4.6's? Were they not as dependable or as easy to get power out of?

My 95 5.0 came with 215hp from the factory (pathetic). The reason for this is because Ford's h/c/i combination is piss poor unless you have an svt product. I want to start with something that is newer and more advanced from the factory instead of spending money upgrading everything on the car just to get it to the specs of a new GT. The problem is not getting power out of the 5.0, there is tons of potential in a 302. How much money you want to spend to turn that potential into a reality is another thing. Starting with a 2002 GT and a supercharger I will have spent thousands less than trying to work on my 5.0. (yea, I could drop a 347 in the car and there would be no contest, but work and college don't allow for that kind of time and lack of a car for an extended amount of time)

He sold it for the same reason he sold me his 95. A massive speeding ticket, a smaller speeding ticket, and an underage drinking citation(he's of age now and got out of it, because apparently it's not illegal to walk to the gas station at 2am dead sober....lol, and the officer was put on a manditory leave for a week).
