New to the Classics

Well I have owned alot of different cars and several Mustangs but this will be my first Classic Mustang rebuild. What I am starting with is a very clean, straight, and rust free 65... 4 lug/stick/I6.. as she sits now I can start on some of the body work such and a few body mods, fender rolling, and smoothing the doors and trunk..along with the drip rail delete...then get started on the v8 swap and 5 lug w/disks. Thats the skinny of it all.... I recon I could of bought a v8 and not done all this work bu to be honest with you all...I have 99% of my fun working on them and making something out of nothing, especially paint and body (odd I know). I will post some pics up of her soon.

cool make sure to post pics along the way, i've gotta say though, i wouldn't delete the drip rails but that's just me. i like the fact that i can open the window on my car a little if it's raining and not get wet, when you delete the drip rails all that rain will come right in the car.

+1 on the drip rails; I sure miss them on the newer cars and trucks.

For the 4 lug to 5 lug conversion; the first one I can think of that hangs around this page would be the BBFCM; ol' 65stanger Fritz just did that on his "Sally" this past summer. He should be able to send a few hints and tricks your way.

yeah when we went to san antonio a few weeks ago it rained on the way down and on the way back and i couldn't smoke a cigarette with the window down without getting a face full of rain, it SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may have to rethink the drip rail..it depends on how much my wife plans on driving it since it will be her car..I have an 89 TTA to poke around town in as soon as she's finished..but the crazy thing is she wants mostly stock suspension parts nothing fancy..she says it wont drive like an old car..if she wanted to drive a new car she would of bought one!

there's no doubt the deleted drip rail looks really cool but i guess my point is if the car is going to be a driver you may not want to do it, if it's just going to be a cruiser/show car that won't ever see rain then go for it.
