Hey all

I recently purcahsed my first 1989 5.0 stang I love these cars to death. As soon as I can I will get some pics up. I have many plans and would like some input on what you all have done to yours. What type of oil do you guys run. Fully senthetic or what. I am changing the oil today and want to know what will give the best performance. How many quarts will it take.

5 quarts, use the motorcraft FL-1A filter. It's a damn good filter.

Make sure you open up BOTH drain plugs on the pan. There is one in the center rear and another up front near the front sway bar.

As for synthetic or conventional? Up to you. I prefer conventional since i change my oil frequently.

If you decide to do plugs, run the OEM motorcrafts (42C's) or Autolite 25's gapped at 0.054" Use copper plugs, not platnium.

fuel filter, PCV, new air filter, wires and all that jazz might be a good idea since you just got the car. You don't know when the last time full maintainence was done, so i always like to do everything when i get a new car to play with

I prefer Mobil 1 or Castrol full synthetic.
