I just bought this thing called a ScanGuage. It is like a 4"x2"x2" electronic box that is a code reader and displays 4 guages at one time in real time while driving. It only has one plug and that is the OBD 2 port. But best of all is it will do speedo corrections for gears/tires on as many vehicles as you want. It doesn't marry itself.
Here is a list of the guages available on it:
-Fuel system loop status (closed or open)
-Intake air temp
-Water temp
-Gallons of fuel per hour
-Ignition timing
-% Engine load
-Miles per gallon
-Miles per hour
-RPM
-Throttle position
-Battery voltage
-Gallons per day
-miles per day
-gallons per trip
-miles per trip
-Distance to empty
And best of all it is only $124.95

i just read the info on the link you provided and i couldn't find any info that says this thing is anything more then a reader/display. I couldn't find info about being able to input and change gear/speedo settings...

Did you get the unit yet? have you done this? we need your info..

I thought this was just a reader as well, but after looking at the manual it does have parameters that can be sent to the computer one of which is speed correction.

Both speed and distance can be adjusted to compensate for changes in tire size, gears, tire wear, etc..

The setting can be changed at any time. If

SAVE is not used, the entered value will be lost when the ScanGauge is disconnected. This may be the desired operation if the vehicle is not to have the ScanGauge regularly used on it.

Now whether it works on our cars is a different question.

Sorry, I have beeen busy with the studies lately. I will try it today on my way to work. I am wondering if it only corrects it on the digital readout or if it actually flashes the computer. I will post back by tonight. Enen if it doesn't, I love the digital guages and the ability to read my own codes now.

If you want digital guages just hold in your odometer reset button as you start the car, that put it in diagnostic mode and you can get your RPM and MPH if I remember right.

Best of all thats free! Would be nice if you have a CEL and you could get the code there, but that would be too easy...right!
