Sorry to get all technical on your thread, but I do this stuff for a living. Long story short, diesel isn't as dirty as some misinformed people think it is, and it's condescending when those same people who rally against diesel consumption drive up in a gasoline car that burns dirtier fuel.
Dont worry about it, i dont mind technical, and i couldnt agree more, if the government didnt have thier head so far up the ass end of the oil compainies then i'd be willing to bet diesel trucks could be getting close to 30mpg from the factory. but gas makes the government alot of money, so that will never happen

My buddy had a 6 gun in his 6.0 and had nothing but problems and quickly blew a head gasket. I haven't heard anything good about modified 6.0's. I'm not a die hard diesel guy tho so I don't know if its all true. Keep it stock and you'll never have a problem.

if you keep them stock they will run forever, mod anything and you are gonna run into issues, that goes for any vehicle, 6.0's have to be modded properly like any other vehicle starting with head studs, once you got studs though 450rwhp from a tune/intake/exhaust is not far off
trucks real nice.. i go to school for diesel in plainfield nj , theres a kid up there with a real nice 250 with an edge programmer in it and he doesnt seem to run into any problems at all.. i think its right around a 04 or 05 also
Stock bottom ends are like women, the worse you treat em, the longer they hang around.
i like the 05-07 face lifted ones. i too am trying to decide between a 250 and a 150 for when i graduate.

I went with an older F250 for price reasons, but a newer F150 is right on par. They tow/haul similar weight, and make great power.
