I just got a new GT42 turbo installed. Its mounted dead smack in center of my engine bay. My question is I'm having heating issues due to its location. Can I heat wrap all the hot side pipes? or is this bad? Also can I heat wrap the turbo?
-- The exact problem I'm having is after I spool the turbo a couple times on highway(3-4 times) the turbo gets so hot it causes my car to over heat if I stop or get into slow traffic(30mph).. If I keep going 60-70 its fine. If I just drive it around normal and don't spool it but maybe once it doesn't overheat the car...
Thanks in advance.

Thank for help

Hey thanks guys.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to hurt anything. Umm.. as street tune im running around 10psi..so about 500rwhp or so, but we are still working out the bugs.. it has done 20+ psi on dyno for around 670rwhp.. I built the whole car for high boost..Everything is forged etc. chp pistons blah blah. so Im really hoping after we get tuning straight and everything Ill be able to have a stable saturday night 700rwhp monster..

it sounds great!

You should look into getting the pipes jet hot coated, as well as the hot side of the turbo coated and than put a blanket over it..

btw GT42 turbos are big effin' turbos! got any pics of your current setup?
