ordered some new bling for the car, Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's. They came in the other day and I have had nothing but issues with them... Please, let me vent...

1. I got front 18x9 w/245/40's and rear 18x10 w/295/35's that the mustang web site claims they will fit my car. Plus Boyds site claim they will fit.
2. I go to install the back steamrollers and they won't work with my spacers because of the studs holding them on. Boyds don't have the extra holes or space like a lot of wheels do for mounting spacers. So, I carefully drill holes to accomodate the spacer studs and go to mount them. Now the lug nuts that hold the spacers on are in the way!! So, I had take 1/8" off of them... I realize that this was my problem not Boyds so I adapted and overcame.
3. I go to put the lug nuts on and out of my extensive collection of tools I don't have a socket that will fit in the small size hole for the lug nuts. I have to go to 3 different stores to find a thin wall socket that barely fits.
4. The back wheels are finaly on and looks bad ass.
5. Pull the car outta of the garage out so I can put the front wheels on. I get the Boyds up on the studs and... MOTHER F*%!KER!!! they don't clear my cobra brakes and put a big scrape on the caliper paint!!! I am livid at this point...
6. I try to call Cruizin Concepts to have a little chat with them and they are busy.
7. I end up calling Maximum Motorsports for some 1/4" spacers for the front. He said he hears about it this quite abit about Boyds and Foose wheels... The spacers should be in by next week. I hope no more problems.

Again, I checked Boyds & Cruizin' says these will fit. If they don't clear factory Cobra brakes them they should make note of it.

Don't feel alone. I had the same problem clearing the front Cobra calipers with the ARE Torque Thrust IIs (17x9.5). ARE's catalog says they fit the 94-95 Mustangs. When I called about the issue the rep said Oh yeah they won't clear the Cobra front calipers. The 1/4" spacer did the trick, however, it made the tire stick out just a little but I can live with it but that's probably because I have 275/40s up front. Maybe if I'd gone with 255s, it would not be a problem.

I don't understand.. he has 18" rims and they still need a spacer? Why? Yours are 17".. Also, my bullets are 17" and fit with no spacer needed.. what gives? is there a 17" chrome bullet not needing spacer.

Diameter is not the problem, the backside of spokes hit the front face of the caliper. you see it on a lot of new cars with aluminum wheels, looks like a fraction of an inch clearence between the backside of the wheel and the calipers. Hopefully the 1/4" spacers won't be to noticible. Methodical, do you have a pic of the front wheels and spacer installed?

I just want to see how far the front tires stick out, is it that noticable? I'm realy picky if doesn't look right. Maybe a shot looking down the side of the car? I would appreciate it.

I see you have 275's up front, wow. I only have 245's maybe I'll be ok, I hope.

I wish you good luck on the SVO/Borla side exhuast, they are not made anymore and I know they are very hard to find. I have some friends that want them too. I know you can still find the CDC ones but they are urathane and use single exhaust tip dynomax mufflers.

So you drilled in between the lug holes on the inside of the rear wheels? Are you worried you might have thrown the balance off? I would consider getting them rebalanced to make sure they don't wear out your new tires.

I haven't found the offset yet, all I know is that they claim to fit. As far as the balance goes, I think the holes that close to the center of the wheel on the rear of the car should not make a difference. The holes are 1/2" wide by 3/8" deep. I will definately keep an eye on it though.

Hell, you are in Waldorf and I am in Clinton. Just come and see the car for yourself or we can meet, maybe at Waldorf Ford, Lowes or HD. I will PM you my cell. Let me know.

Peace
