Ok, I'm still running my stock 88 Shortblock with edelbrock h/c/i. The shortblock has 144000 miles on it and never seems to smoke or anything. A buddy of mine wants me to try a 100 shot on my car. Its a wet kit with a WOT switch. Am I safe doing this? I'm running a WC T5 which kinda worries me. I'm prolly worrying too much, but I just wanted to ask since I've never used it before. Is it ok without a tune? Thanks.

you will be fine without a tune...just make sure to run colder plugs and turn the timing down to 10* to start with. i wouldnt recommend running any higher timing than that. but i say go for it

If you are running the stock ignition, you may want to get a rpm window switch to be safe. That way if you hit the stock rev limiter (while you are spraying) and it shuts fuel off you aren't gonna damage anything.

EDIT: I wouldn't worry about the tranny too much. I am running the stock t-5. Just don't powershift.

good point. or get a soft touch rev limiter....i think that would do the trick also

Well i am running a 150 shot wt kit on mine, and have had it on my other mustang for like2 years now. The safe rule of thumb back the timing down 2 degrees for every 50 shot of nos thats what most people say to do. personaly i run 12 degrees of timing with 93 and 150 shot its really not that bad, just make sure you gap your plugs at 35. Have fun spraying.:

it would be good to have a wide open throttle switch. This way you can't spray at low rpm's. everything peeps have posted so far is good advice. You will love the juice.
The WOT switch WON'T keep you from spraying at low rpm's. It WILL keep you from spraying at part throttle. You need a window switch to keep you from spraying at low/high rpm's. I've found that "Autozone" has the cheapest price on the MSD digital window switch pn:8969 for 89.99+tax.

Dragnazz5.0-----What's the reason for not spraying in 5th?

thx. when i posted that i was thinking it didn't seem right. You are correct. With a WOT however you won't be at low rpm's for very long. And once you bang through 1st or second and go to shift to next gear on the juice you wouldn't be touching low rpm's. I always think about a race situation on the track and i'm shifting at 65oorpm and bouncing off 5500 in the next gear. So besides my launch i never spray at low rpm's. That windo switch looks like a good idea it may lower my 60 foots a little because the way i launch now i spin first and second. Maybe letting the car hook up first is the way to do it. Just hopefully it doesn't break loose when the switch allows the nitrous to flow.

As for 5th gear only reason i can see is that isn't 5th a weak gear in the t-5?
I don't know if it's weak or not but i have heard that the synchro is brass.

True on the juice at wot you won't be seeing low rpm's for very long! Then again I wonder how long it takes to puddle up fuel in the intake and cause a backfire through the intake?

IMHO, the MSD digital window switch is a must with a N20 kit. You can have the system armed and the pedal down and the kit will not fire unless you are in the rpm range you set. That and a Digital 6 is a great combo.

i'm going to go look for 1 and see if it will benifit my set up any. I already have a digital 6. You have to have a timing retard when on the juice that way you can run timing in the car when not on juice and the ignition takes it out when you have the nitrous armed and you are at WOT.

Thats the cool thing about the digital 6 it has a built in nitrous retard. I run full timing off the nitrous, once the solenoid has power, the set timing is pulled.
