Newbie paint question

Ok, I looked around a little. But I cant seem to find the answer to a question I have about paint. Which is, how wide are the racing stripes? And how far apart are they supposed to be? Any painters out there with an answer. I just found a painter for my project car, and he would like to know how I want the stripes. I said so they dont look stupid.....! He said a little more information would be nice.... Ive seen this guys work, and its nice. but he rarely does stripes. And works on nothing but classics. So any help would be appreciated.

Oh yeah! Senior moment. The car is a 68 coupe with the Eleanor front end.

Just so you know the stripes aren't eperfectly straight. they're tapered throughout the car to give the appearance of being straight.

Another good source of information is the Mustangs Unlimited catalog. It has an illustrated display of the stripes and width dimensions along with the option to purchase a stencil kit covering 1965-1968 models.
