hey everyone, Im new to the Mustang world. just came on to hopefully get some info on restoring a 65 coupe. So far I have learned quite a bit from just reading thru some threads. And though most of you seem to think its a PITA to swap a 6 for an 8. thats probably what we'll do.
and as a newbie I reserve the right to my first question that I should have probably searched for first :D
what are some options on upgrading the drums to discs? what other Fords are usual lenders? And are there any other aftermarket options for upgrading?

thanks in advance.
Id leave a pic but I dont have anywhere to host it just yet.

thanks, Ill check out that site. and I did have a host I just thought I had forgot the password. heres a pic:

Welcome, A good donor car for disc brakes is a late 70's granada. It will also give you half of your 5 lug suspension if you go with a v8. A couple other things for that conversion you will need is bigger sway bars and heavier springs. good luck

Mustangs Plus freakin rocks. I got my entire front conversion kit, all SSBC, duel master cylinder, lines, proportioning valves, brakes 4 pistons calipers. It is a great kit and easy to do. Everything was pretty much bolt on (one of the few things at are) and it hasx some great stopping power. :nice: :nice: two thumbs up

cool. you say you wanna swap an I6 for a v8? what type of v8? i think it would take more time and money than just buying a v8 but thats just me :)

honestly dont know yet. we are thinking about a 289 or maybe even a 5.0

while playing around with it, my Dad found a plate on the 6 that says it has been bored over. and we got that 6 running today. it was great to take a first drive.

I'm in the process of the same switching my 65 from a 6 to a V8. Be prepared it is alot of work but fun if you like doing wrenching. I went with a custom rod front end and power disc brakes with power rack. rcmotosports.net
You need to weld in the cross member to the frame then everything else bolts to that. I picked up a 289/c4 trans and 8" rearend with springs from a donor stang. The rest I've been getting from CJ pony parts.
