I have a 90" GT that i have purchased AFR 165's, 58cc emiss legal, and i was wondering what cam you guys suggest running with this combo. I will be upgrading intakes, throttle body, mass air meter etc. More than likley a cobra intake, Or poss a edelbrock rpm II, depending on how much money i have left. This will be a street car, with 3.55's and i don't want to loose too mutch low end drivability. I am currently looking at the E-cam, F=cam, TFS, stage 1.
ANY imput is greatly appreciated.

You spent >$1200 on heads and you're going to spend another ~$1000 on more mods. Instead of buying a $130-140, why not go with a $300 cam from Ed Curtis? It just kills me to see people spend their hard earned money for one of the top set of heads on the market and then whine if they have to spend more than $150 for a cam. If you don't have the extra money, then save up until you do.

Dude, i'm not whining. I could throw 5 grand at my car tomorrow if i wanted to, but i plan on adding a blower next summer and don't want to go the customn rought quite yet. And i don't want a blower cam keeping me from having a fun car this summer. I will add a new shortblock next spring, and i can save the custom cam for that. Is there anything wrong with the off the shelf cam's i listed? What would you run with this combo as far as lift and duration? My car has been sittin still for 2 years because of other interests and i want to drive it now. I just want to make sure i don't kill the streetability of it by going too big.

didnt sound like whining to me, there was no money involved in the question about the cam... it was about which intake he was gonna get ... lol ... neway it was a good question - the advice given is good though, should have a cam custom cut, ~ If you dont know the specs of which to have that guy custom make it, than im sure hes done enough of them to be able to tell you whats the best lift and duration and everything for what you want specifically ~ just tell him what u want w/ the car, the low end drivablitly, the mods you plan or have done, and he'll make YOU what YOU want - good luck man

i dunno bout the intake, i just bought the cobra polished upper n lower, but have not installed yet - everyone has a different combo, find somebody that has a really similiar combo (you can read in their signatures usually) and just PM him and ask him what he thinks of diff intakes - thats what i do, i look for cars that are stock w/ full exhaust and i PM them and ask them questions and bother them lol good luck

I have the exact same heads your going with and I went the custom cam route for my daily driver from www.flowtechinduction.com (Ed Curtis mentioned above). It only cost another $130 more than those alphabet cams and with better performance overall...

I went with the Performer intake (suggested by Ed himself) due to the fact that it has a more useable powerband compared to the RPM II that your looking at. I have no problems turning it over to 6000rpm either...

I guess I should have phrased it a little better. By whining, I was talking to those people who I figured would post behind me with their AFR/E-cam combos talking about how good they ran. Of course they run good. But they also probably don't know what their missing. And believe me, they are missing out.

If you're just looking for something to get by with, of the 3 cams listed, I like the Stage 1. The split pattern does it for me, although AFRs will work wonders with anything. E cam would be my 2nd choice. The F-cam has more duration than I like for a 306 with the stock computer. But my friend runs 10.50s on a stock 302 hypereutectic shortblock, F-cam, TFS TW and a Novi 2000.

For intakes, the Performer is probably what you're looking for. I have just a regular RPM and it supports over 600rwhp on pump gas with only 13psi. Edelbrock makes good stuff.
