1. Chromw looks GOOD on the screaming Yellow. Trust me I put my buddies chrome fr500's on and I didn't want to give them back.
2. Doc you love a handling car. I've read your post do the suspension.
3. Rims you just might want to look into the size you want to go with. 18's look good but tires get costly quick. hence why I'll prolly go 17's.
4. I'd suggest, keeping the stocker for your winter rims no sense in messing up bling bling rims.

Its so hard to tell with chrome in the pics I've seen. Either the pic has too much or too little light to really tell what it looks like. I do like those BBS rims though. One reason I've thought about rims is I'm going to need some new tires in the next 6 months or so...and I figured I'd get the new rims/tires....and put all weather on the stockers for winter. Maybe I'll do the suspension this summer, get the new tires when I need them and hopefully it'll be in time for winter so I'll just get all weather. Then next spring, the all weather come off, and new rims/tires go on! I've seen the 18"s can get costly for tires, but I really like the looks of the 18 Saleens or 18 FR500's over 17's.

Soooo....since I can't seem to get over the handling of the 17 year old Porsche I drove for 6 months....maybe I will do the handling first.

look at it this way, wheels/tires are gonna cost ~$1200. for that much, you could have a REALLY good start on your suspension. heres what i would do, knowing what i know now

Strange 10 way Adj shocks/struts-$400
H&R Springs----------------------$250
Full Lenth Subframe Connectors---$200
Panhard Bar----------------------$350

Total--$1200

after that
Strut Tower Brace---------------$100
Front and Rear Swaybars---------$400
LCA-----------------------------$250
Rack Bushings--------------------$50

Total--$800

$2,000 will get you a great handling GT

I would do the subframes in reverse order if you have to. you really need LCA's. you don't realize how much lateral movement there in to the rear axel until you eliminate it. you car goes from massive oversteer in corners to be very predictable and fairly hard to get lose. I mean I have to hit a corner about triple the recomened speed or get on the gas way to early to get the rear of the car to slide out now.

I only bring it up becuase I did my stuff in stages and the lca's and subs proabaly had a bigger affect than the springs, shocks, struts, and CC plates did for road manners.

Im in the same situation. I got limited funds too. I can eather get 4.10s/Tuner - Tuner/Cams - Suspension.

I want to get suspension badly.

so why are you doing strange shocks on a handeling car? strange is ok for drag/street.... but if you are bothering with getting into good suspension mods you will be having the stranges as the weakpoint.

Do it right or just get the wheels.

I was about to ask the same question about the Strange shocks/struts. Maybe I'll get the SFC and LCA's at the same time....just wait until I can afford it all. I definetely notice the lateral movement on this stang now. I can hit a bump or pothole the wrong way and the whole car seems to jump 1 ft to the side....or hit a bump while I'm at WOT and when the suspension comes back down the car starts jerking and I have to let off the throttle.

Maybe I'll call Modular Depot and find out how much they'd charge to weld on the SFC's. I'd trust they'd do a great job. Almost forgot about gears....but that'll wait till the warranty is up on my car.

Ok, somewhat of a tech question I came across while researching on MM's site. Do the SFC's cover up the tranny crossmember? If so, can the crossmember still be removed? In the instructions it looks like the SFC's are welded over the crossmember mounting brackets.

my .02 is do it all and do it right but if you shop for deals you can almost do it for the same price as the wheels and tires. that is unless you add the PHB. that will push you noth of the budget.

Like i said I have about $1350 in my current setup and while I would not mind coilovers, PHB, torque arm for a daily it handles great. I know the car could handle better than it does but it no longer has bad road manners and that is all I cared about. it is predicable and handles great.

no, they do not. lay on the ground and look at the undercarriage. you will see the frame rails. these are what the SFCs are welded to. they obstruct nothing... except maybe a jack

The instructions were a bit confusing...mentioned notching out the crossmember bracket for the SFC to fit in place....unless of course I was reading them for the wrong model year

i believe the crossmember they refer to is the crossmember on the subframe connector. some of the MM ones have those... gimme a sec to dig it up real quick.

on the cobras the crossmember brackets (where the member bolts on) is welded to the SFCs, the brackets also have to be grinded down to make it fit, you can still remove the tranny crossmember from the 2 bolts

I don't remember what kind of crossmember the new edge GT's have, i think it's the smaller one that doesnt touch the subs frames

just read the install instructions... you need to notch hte mounting braces for the crossmember, nothing with the crossmember its self. the crossmember will drop without issue.
