Next mods for a 99 Cobra?

I recently purchased a clean 1999 Cobra, with some bolt-on modifications installed by the previous owner.

The car dynoed at 311 RWHP.

Here are the mods:

Exhaust:
BBK Chrome long-tube headers
BBK X-pipe with high-flow cats
Magnaflow 2.5" stainless catback system

Intake:
Cold air intake with K&N air filter

Drivetrain:
3.73 Ford rear-end gears
Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch kit
Short-throw shift kit

Other Performance Mods:
SCT Xcalibrator 3 programmer
Underdrive pulleys



What are the next logical upgrades? Are any of the exhaust mods worth replacing, with something better?

You should swap out the 3.73's for some 4.30's if you plan on staying NA

I will second that. I had 4.30s in my 01 when it still had the i.r.s before the blower. I loved them.

I had 4.10's in my 99 and 4.30's in my 97 and the 4.30's definitely were the way to go. I wish I went 4.56's.

What are 4.10s and/or 4.30s going to do to my gas mileage? this car is a daily driver, and seems to get like 17-18mpg as it is.


Furthermore, what about some suspension mods?

Bone stock I was at 18 city and 25 hwy. Now with the 4.30s and other mods, im at 16.5 mpg, but thats ALL CITY. No idea what it is on the hwy.

From a 3.27 to a 4.10, I didn't notice gas mileage. I really don't care either since I don't DD any more my Mustangs. Even after the Vortec on my 96, I didn't notice a gas mileage change.

Your power is great right now. Next up, a hit of nitrous, or take the u/d pullies off and get a supercharger.

BUMP only because I finally used one full tank on the highway...

My 4.30s let me keep 16.5 city and 20.2 highway mpg's

I have the same dilemma I have a 1999 cobra vert with high flow cats and full bassani exhaust, JLT intake and SCT tune......so I want the next step but want to keep daily drivability. Let me know what you do. Changing to 3.73's or 4.10's is a logical step for me, but very expensive to have some one do it.
