WOW its been a long time since i have visited this place!

I bought this 67 coupe when i was 16, The guy said he put New quarter panels on and painted it looked OK But I didnt care IT was a mustang  . Now 14 years later I want to work on making it pretty, so i'm gonna try and paint it myself.:D I started to sand some areas that I knew had bondo and found this View attachment 499260 crapola

how should I fix it? It's about A 1/8" lip, I dont like the Idea of covering this up with bondo.
Where should I seem the new panel to the old?
Thanks

By the time you cut it out and seamed in the new pannel your going to have to skim coat the weld with bondo also unless your like Jessie James with the mig welder and really skilled with the hammer and dolly, that part of the car souldnt be to bad to do it on as you can reach most of it from the inside with both the hammer and dolly. Is the existing quarter banged up or rusted full of holes?

From the little bit we can see, it doesn't look that bad. Before I cut it off and started over I would want to know:
  • Is the panel rusty
  • Is the weld area badly warped
  • How does the quarter end cap fit (can you tell it is skinned)
  • How is the door jam/seam done--does it look right
If it made it 14 years without anyone knowing, it probably wasn't a bad job.
