Is Ashley hot?

Just kidding. Sucks about the PCer. I need to find one myself for my Cobra upper and quality was my concern as well

So did you get a ticket or warning for the tint? Is any allowed on front windows?

Ashley was a giant flirt, and made sure I knew her cell number was on her business card. But when all she was getting from me was frustration, she was no where to be found. Called today, she wasnt available but would call back. Think she did? I'll give you one guess...

Here is how it finally panned out. I left work early and showed up without warning today. After my concerns yesterday, they recoated my tubular intake, supposedly put three coats on my lower, and two on the TB Spacer. While it did end up better than it was initially, there is still a lot to be desired. Small defects they claim that are in the metal, that an orbital sander would have smoothed in half a second that they just ignored. They cut my bill down 50%, and from the distance you will look at it from I am satisfied enough not to drag them through the mud.

Pics

A couple easy defects I feel they could have handled...

This one is hard to see in the pic, but there is a noticably raised chunk of something right along the shadow on the end cap
that could have been sanded smooth for me before coating.

Maybe Im critical, but I see fisheyed finish here.

Now keep in mind, this is the finished product after I bitched about the initial finishes that were much worse. But for what I paid, its fine in the end.

What is it with you and vendors?

You buy a transmission that's WRONG, pay the "expert" to rebuild it,..then he want's to charge you to transfer the stuff over to the new case that he shoulda caught in the first place?...
Now you find Ashley's fly by night powder coating and make up, and when they screw the finish up,..you gotta tell them that the finish is screwed up?

Iowa,.....

Do you have a letter stamped onto your forehead when you walk into these shops, or do you just pay them in advance, and just turn around, bend over, and assume the position?

I needed that trans done to get the truck back on the road and the '11 off the salty winter roads. Otherwise I would have fought more. Here, I expressed my concerns, they made an effort to fix them, and discounted my bill. Now I know they dont do show quality work. That sometimes happens when you try to keep you money local instead of shipping things off to well known people, 'specially around here.

Last topic of discussion. I need to clean my intake runners both upper and lower. Can anyone PM what TMoss charges for a ported lower? I am considering doing it myself, obviously not to the extreme he does, because this lower will most like go to a new home in a couple years when I step up engines. But if he's reasonable, that may add to my resale appeal a bit in the end.

(F'in sideways pics anyway)

Oh yeah, no ticket, he let me go with a warning. Said his personal vehicle was a newer Charger R/T from FL and he had to pull his front tint off. Understood that my car came from Chicago, and the cold winter kept me from sitting outside trying to peel it off. Asked me about the SRT8 options and how I liked it, etc. Very nice guy.

Alrighty then, Ive done got myself into a conumdrum. I havent had much free time to work on the car. But that doesnt mean I havent had time at work to think too much and buy things. I left off talking about cleaning up the runners of my lower intake. I got to thinking I would port them myself. Then I thought, well what head port should I match them to? This is when I got to browsing for used heads and snatched up some TFS170's and 1.6 RR's. I guess I know what I'll be porting my intake to match now!

As far as the conundrum part. My original plan for this car includes a mild 408w. Logic says to clean up these parts and put them in boxes to wait for the 408 build... But the little red guy on my shoulder says, "Get a cam, injectors and MAF and enjoy your combo on your 302 since the 408 is a couple years away..." What do you guys think I should do?

That's what I'm doing. Similar combo as well. I'm a few years of daycare away from being able to build a nice new 331/347 supercharged setup....but i need to ditch the e7s now! My daily driver is probably faster

As most of you know, I went ahead and bought the twin of the car I had as a senior in high school. My high school car had a prior salvaged title, and some rust on the hatch. This car is rust free with a clean title, but still needs plenty of attention to get back to where I want it.
Plans for this car are to keep it mostly stock, with upgrades here and there as I have time and extra cash.

I want to get it restored to good clean condition before really doing any modifications. With that being said, I will not restore some factory parts knowing I will be upgrading them.

Hmmmm,...just looking back at the "original plan"...No where does it say 408...

My DD is no question faster, but I am ok with that. I just want the fox to be spirited and fun to whip donuts in while representing an era of my youth.

*Nick standing at the podium....addressing the community.

"If you would've been paying attention to what I said I meant, then you'd know that even though that I meant to say that I always intended to put a 408w in the car. Even though I wrote it down earlier for all of the world to see,...What I wrote then isn't to be taken literally. Obviously what you are doing is twisting my words to suit your liberal fake news agenda"....

"Sad."

I think we have established that I am the least political guy on the forum, however you are correct that in the very beginning I was trying very hard to keep the car stock. Shoulda bought the 4 lug Baer front brake kit. What was I thinking going to 5 lug???

What were you thinking buying a fox?

Who buys one of these cars and doesn't expect it to suck blood out of your ass?

Got to thinking just now, maybe we should have a little test, you and I. I am thinking if I do a cam, it will be the TFS1, as its inexpensive and proven safe with the factory short block. That would make our combos very similar, but with me doing my own porting of the lower intake. Assuming we get similar sized TBs, MAFs, and exhaust combos (shorties vs LTs, catted vs non catted mid pipes), how about a dyno shootout for fun?

Remember that whole, it looks just like the one I had in high school that I can never get back thing? That is why I got it, but it hardly resembles it anymore, because its an ass blood sucking POS.
