OK....one of two things...
#1 Gauge failure. For there to be zero compression there'd be a red flag waving like mad to confirm that the stupid gauge even works right.
#2. Where's the compression Going? 4 Holes making no pressure would be blowing back somewhere...The amount of air that blows through the spark plug hole could be confirmed that the gauge is phcked simply by putting your finger over the hole instead. If you can keep your finger on that hole, then your gauge is probably right. But if compression blows it back off...

Cheap Assed Chinee Compression tester....No worky...You fix, and you try again round eye.

They were def too tight, I already started resetting them yesterday. I ran out of time to get the job finished, but I can tell you what this noob did wrong.

I watched an internet vid of a guy who swore about his process he has used for 30 years, blah blah. I found zero lash, then tightened the nut. When you do it right, you can still barely spin the pushrods when the valve is closed. He had me cranking the engine around multiple times and retightening any that could still move. Basically I took him too literally, and made them too tight.

I will say this, my comp rockers have a lot of side to side play when they arent under load. I think I had them torqued correctly the first time, and the chatter I was hearing is just how they are. When they go under load as I rotate the engine around, they get tight and stay straight. When they are not under load, the pushrod is still snug, they can just slide back and forth side to side a bit on the fulcrum.

True, however I didnt think to and already spent 45 mins yesterday resetting all but a few. Im getting really tired of going backwards. When I was setting zero lash, they all seemed to spin smoothly. Hopefully any bent ones would be noticeable when you are spinning them at zero lash in your fingers.

You mean as far as not watching youtube videos and searching here first? That is definitely true. I think I was fine all along, and never should have gone looking for a video to confirm what I did/should do. Im just that much of a rookie that Im always second guessing myself.

So glad you're figuring this out

The only reason I thought about it was because I've done it before.

My first mustang that I put aftermarket rockers on was all screwed up when it came to rocker adjustments.

We all learn as we go.

I'm sure I'll screw it up too when I eventually get to it too.

At that point I'll just ask a ton of questions and let everyone here walk me through it.

No sir, havent been able to get out there since Sat afternoon. I have three rockers left to set up, but the wife pulled me away and weve been busy since.

Got six inches of snow today, when we had NONE on the ground this morning when I left for work. Had to shovel when I got home. Our local news put out a story just yesterday about this being the lowest snowfall winter since 2003, and then we got a good storm. Stupid fckers jinxed us.

Turns out our local news really jinxed us with that story. We are aupposed to get snow tonight, tomorrow night, and again Friday and Saturday. Did I ever mention I dislike winter, and the mess that comes along with snow?

Hmmmmmm...

Did somebody say ALABAMA?

It's probably gonna hit 70 today...and I'm sitting here in a long sleeve shirt, and I'm hot.

If you don't like the cold assed winter, it's up to you to make that change. I wanted out of the Midwest so bad, I enlisted in the USArmy.....at 28.

Which brings me to a XEcute side story......

Probably before your time,..but in my grade school, we had a stepped reading program called SRA reading laboratories. Each assignment involved reading the subject matter, and then testing afterwards to determine your comprehension of the subject matter...it started all too easy, and progressed to being harder to read, and comprehend. They separated each level with colors.

In the 6th grade, I got to the second red.

I rememer one lesson in particular, because I believed that it applied to me...My dad was moved around the US courtesy of the USAF. They moved him where they needed him.

That lesson very coarsely related to my understanding, was that people limited their own happiness in life, and on the job by their unwillingness or inability to move to a place that makes them happy. Either as a result of their economic situation,...social/family ties,...or physical hardships that are laid before them that prevents that move.

In reality, Only those with youth on their side, or a company financed move are the ones really able to do that.

In my case, at 28, I had the govt make that move for me,...it's how I ended up where I am today.

But,..........In your case Nick......When it comes down to you believing that the weatherman somehow "jinxed" you by reporting that the snowfall has been the lowest in record....and then it snows anyway.....

It's time to move.

Trust me buddy, I would love nothing more than to leave Iowa. My wife is unwilling. We are established, comfortable, and our families are here. Its a bum deal. Ive been asking her to consider a few different places while the kids are young. I moved several times in my childhood, and know that it only gets harder changing schools the older you get. She is a nurse and can get a job nearly anywhere, and I have a work ethic that will help me secure a job, even if not in my current line of work. At the end of the day, she wants to be able to see her dad and sister every so many weeks, and they nor us would be able to travel back and forth enough for her to be happy.

First chance I get to move away from my inlaws, we are GOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

MIL showed up at my house this weekend unannounced. Walks into the garage and starts her usual barrage of short simple minded questions of, "How's your _______?" And after about 6 questions and one word answers, she wandered into the house to wake my sleeping wife up. JESUSCHRISTLADYGETAFUKNLIFEALREADY.

Sorry. That wasn't supposed to be a rant.

All good. I have a pretty horribly unethical MIL story for you now.

My wife and I started dating in Jan 2003. My wife's high school ex bf was pretty rough, and her mom kind of took him in as a fixer upper. Well long story short he went to prison at age 17 in 2002 for killing someone while drinking and driving.

I meet her through a mutual friend about 6 months after he is sentenced, and at that time in my life I am a pretty quiet, shy dude that doesnt even drink. Despite being a very respectful straight laced kid, her mom hates me. Thinks I took her away from her bf who was sitting in jail on a 12 year sentence. (For the record, I intially told her I didnt want anything to do with her until she was 100% sure she was ready to move on, and put her off 3 months until she came to me)

Her mom wouldnt speak to me, acknowledge me, even come in the same room with me until Nov 2007 when we bought our first house. It must have clicked that I wasnt going anywhere...

In June 2010 my MIL was diagnosed with lung cancer, but it had already spread to her brain before she felt any symptoms. Sept 7th, only 3 months later, she passed away.

We had a couple normal years where she was nice to me like she never spent the other 4 years being the most stubborn, irrational woman I had ever met... In the end, I am undecided with how I ultimately felt about her. I will say this though, my wife's dad always like me, supported us being together, and would give my MIL sht for being an idiot for so long. He and I still get along great, and I do feel for him having lost his wife.

The end.
