Hey guys,
I'm going to put the car on the sauce and I've been trying to decide which system to go with. I'm going to put a nice clean setup so this is what I have in mind.

Direct port system with an under the injector nozzle (simple to install no drilling or tapping the intake)

Plate, easy on easy off 250 shot limit.

Or the conventional direct port that you have to drill and tap the intake but can take 400+ shots (the motor can take it too)

Price is going to be about $400 difference from one another so its not a big of a deal. And I dont intend to go more than 250 for traction reasons so what would you guys choose and why?

Thanks.

Since it is a street car, I would probably opt for the plate system. The less lines/hoses/fittings you have, the better. If it were more of a track only car, I would go the direct port route via the injector fittings. The closer to the combustion chamber you can inject the nitrous, the better. Have fun Paul!

You will make more power with direct port, but more jets to change.

I don't like the plates or single fogger nossels that are put way higher in the intake, less power, better chance for a backfire.

is this going on an 05+ GT?

I personally have had much better experience with direct port setups when you go over a 150 shot. I personally would go with a direct port setup if you are going to be running that large of a shot as all it takes is one mistake and your done.

My last car had a direct port 120 shot and the power it made was just amaizing. It was very obvious that the motor liked it better as well as the difference between the 120 fogger v.s direct port was very obvious to me.

I hear you. However, the "mistakes" you refer to should be minimized on Paul's vette, as compared with, say, a 5.0 intake manifold. It is much easier to experience pooling of nitrous and fuel in a 5.0 intake manifold then it is on an LS-based GM manifold, because of differences in design. For this reason, you see larger nitrous shots fed in earlier in the intake stream on LS engines. Hence, the increased popularity of plate kits and Maf kits in the F-body/vette world. Yes, nitrous atomizes differently at the 200 shot and above levels, but it's nothing that Paul will have issues with.

That plate is pretty good, it shoots a 360 degree patern and the intake is an aftermark FAST 90mm intake which does well with wet kits, and a direct port with polished hardlines looks purdy for car shows :D

But like I said this wont get more than 250 as I already need a cage and a fire jacket to run more than 2 times at New England Dragway and I'm NO mood to spend 500-600 bux to cage this thing just to run it 2 or 3 weekends in the summer. I just wanna break 9's get it over and done with and get kicked out for the season.

Sweet, awesome information there, I learned something new today. :D I am still a newb when it comes to mustangs and domestics as I come from the import world, but have A LOT of experience with nitrous. Thanks for the schooling.

If you run 9's your going to get more then kicked out, they are also going to send you and the NHRA a letter with your information on it and the cars info on it so if you try and race at any NHRA sanctioned track they will know and your done. I can't wait to see the setup and see you do it! :D

I got kicked out twice for running 10s but like I said I'm not gonna spend any $$$ to put in a cage on my daily driver when I would only use it a few times in the summer. The nitrous is just to take out some of these cocky street bikes around here and things like that.

You're right, 11.49 and faster I need a 6pt roll cage, fire jacket, a fire extinguisher, window net, SFI seat belts, all that crap I dont want to deal with.

All that crap just for a 11.49? What are the NHRA requirements at that ET?

(I apologize for being dumb, as my car is a solid 2 seconds away from a 11.49):nonono:

The window net would be pretty hard to do on a rollbar, wouldn't it?

The NHRA requirements are basically the same except for the fire extinguisher and window net. There also require an SFI flywheel, clutch and bellhousing on stickshift cars and I believe aftermarket axles and C-clip eliminators (if applicable) at that same 11.49 mark.
