Nitrous backfire FTL....

Sucks.

FI or nitrous will almost always come back to bite you in the butt. Some get 10 bottles, some hundreds of bottles. Hope you get her up and running soon. Mine has been down for almost 10 months, so I know the pain. Good luck, man!

Out of curiosity (please excuse me, Im a nitrous noob), it it still possible to get a backfire from an auto car? Im thinking that because you obviously cant over-rev or bog an auto.

Any idea why it would backfire that far down the track? It looked like it was from the exhaust side instead of the common intake side? At least I saw a nice shot of flames out the exhaust indicating it was the exhaust side.

Maybe a solenoid hung up during a shift? Sorry, I didn't watch the video with sound.

Yes, it can happen if you spray too low in the RPM range or if your shift patterns cause it to smack the limiter a couple of times on spray before it actually changes gears.

That sucks man, I've had that happen a couple of times during missed shifts. It's loud outside of the car! Did anything more serious happen? Most of the time it's fine as long as it's backfiring out of the exhaust and not the intake.

All it did was blow the intake into about 6 pieces. Luckily a friend of mine has a spare that he gave me.

The reason it did it was purely my fault. My 150 shot calls for a .35 fuel jet. Well I put a .38 jet in it, thinking it would be more safe that way. I ended up missing 3rd and when I did, there was still fuel puddled in the intake. The window switch shut the nitrous off, but there was just to much fuel in the intake. So when it hit the rev limiter, it popped the intake.

That sucks, but it's better then punching a hole in the bottom end.

Glad to hear! Did you make sure none of the plastic fell down into the ports or get in the combustion chamber? Had a buddy that thought just throwing a new intake on would fix it and then he bent a valve when he went to start it up.

Long Long Ago i used to have Nitrous. I have it installed back in like 07 and had it for about 6 months. Its lame. Gets boring fast.

NOS is like a hot girl that is good in the sack but might steal your car in the morning.
